Post Christmas Financial Blues? It’s around this time that the credit card statements land on our doorsteps and we realise how much we actually spent over Christmas and the New Year. For a lot of us, the reality is that we can no longer afford to pay the credit card bills and loans in full as and when they fall due. So, what to do? Well, there are a number of measures you can take to avoid your credit history being ruined or impaired.
Do a Budget – make a full list of your income and
expenditure and identify where all your money goes. Be honest with yourself. Cut out some or all of the unessential expenditure. You may have some tough choices to make.
Shop Around – you might be able to get cheaper
rates on your credit cards, loans, insurances and mortgages, or cheaper gas and electric, (or consider a meter for utilities such as water).
Get Advice - If you’ve cut expenditure to the minimum and still have more expenditure than income, or if you’re considering cancelling important financial planning payments such as life insurance, income protection or pension contributions, then you should seek independent debt advice immediately. You may have heard about various debt solutions such as Debt Management Plans, Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA’s), Debt Relief Orders and Bankruptcy, There are also similar solutions for limited companies that are experiencing financial problems. Information on all these solutions is available on our website www.debt-advice-blackpool.co.uk Tim Johnson is a Managing Partner of Debt Advice Blackpool, a free Debt Advice Service for Blackpool and the Fylde. He is also a professionally qualified Financial Adviser and Mortgage Broker

WHY YOU DON’T HAVE TIME NOT TO EXERCISE by health & fitness expert Pam Tribick.
As we get older, balance and co-ordination skills decrease, strength, endurance and flexibility be-come limited and ease of movement more difficult.
The risk of falls, injury and age related disease increases significantly.
This is compounded in older adults who have an inactive lifestyle.
However, the good news is that this can be im-proved at any age and studies show that not only is exercise safe for the more mature, the less mobile or out of shape, it can also have long-term health benefits.
It can reduce the risk of developing some diseases and disabilities that develop as people grow older, it can for e.g.: prevent or help control type 2 diabetes protect against brittle bones, i.e. osteoporosis reduce the risk of developing heart disease reduce the risk of developing some cancersK..to name but a few.
Regular, moderate exercise will also help: promote weight loss / prevent weight gain ease of movement improve balance and co-ordination improve sleep strengthen your immune system
Studies suggest that following a more active life-style is one of the healthiest things you can do to maintain or improve your independence, quality and enjoyment of life.
Classes in particular can also be a great way to socialise and make new friends whilst reaping the benefits of enjoyable exercise.
In addition, exercise increases energy levels. Don't believe me? Try it! You'll be pleasantly surprised.

From 15 February 2010
Cardboard MUST go into
your Blue Bin.
Important changes to your
waste collection (from 15
February 2010)
A new multi-million pound, state
of-the-art waste treatment
facility will soon be processing
Wyre's waste in a more
environmentally friendly way.
The Thornton waste treatment
facility on the former ICI site is
due to open next year.
As a result we need to make
some changes to the way we
collect your waste.
Cardboard - From Monday 15
February 2010, cardboard can
no longer be collected with
green waste. From that date,
cardboard should instead be
placed in your blue bin along
with paper.
Introducing these changes will
significantly increase
opportunities to recycle and
reduce the amount of rubbish
that goes to landfill.
This enhanced collection
service will benefit the
environment, create a cleaner
and greener Wyre and help us
achieve demanding recycling
targets.
Compact your Cardboard
To help in making the changes
to cardboard collection
successful, we ask that you
compact your cardboard
waste to take less space in your
blue bin.
Fold, flatten or crush boxes to
minimise the room it takes in
your bin before it goes out for
collection.
Please note: there are no plans
to change your current bin
collection day.

Thornton Cleveleys Leapfrog Fleetwood to take Top Spot!
Thornton Cleveleys FC moved into top spot of the Sports 360 West Lancashire League Division 1 with another goal fest at New Bourne Park. Croston were the visitors on a very cold day in December but goals from Frankland, Bailey, Smith, Warwick, and Perkes only added to Croston misery. Manager John Mendonca was full of praise for his squad which has been dogged by a number of injuries of late. TCFCs game on the 19th fell foul to the weather and we had to wait until January 2nd to welcome visitors Fleetwood Hesketh Bank. After a treacherous journey from Southport the visitors found themselves 2-0 down in the first half and then the 3rd killed the game off before a late reply made the score line more respectable Pete Borrowdale grabbed a double with Paul Bailey getting on the score sheet as well. This was TCFCs 5th win on the trot and it catapulted them to the top of the table. An away win on Jan 24th saw them maintain their lofty position winning 1-3 against local rivals Norcross and Warbreck with Frankland, Smith and that man Bailey on the score sheet again “The place is buzzing at the moment” said manager John Mendonca “The lads are playing very good football its nice on the eye and I’m delighted to see more and more supporters come down on match day despite the weather to support the team”

Very little football has been played between 13th December and January 17th but special mention must go to all managers, players and parents for their unwavering commitment and effort in trying to get games played – well done.
Academy (Under 6s Under 7s and Under 8s)
We are not allowed to publish results due to an FA ruling which prevents any child under the age of 9 playing in a league where results are recorded but nevertheless the academy goes from strength to strength TCFC currently has over 21 players representing their Under 8s squad 14 in their Under 7s squad and 10 in their Under 6s squad a 200 percent increase on last year “Its all down to the hard work and dedication of our coaches” said academy director Steve Spencer “Word travels fast when your doing a good job we’re also grateful to our schools for promoting the good work we do there as well” The academy is running a series of free sessions in the coming weeks to recruit more players into their young squads 40 youngsters have already registered their interest to attend these sessions call Steve on 07930640087

Under 9s stay top despite not playing a single league game in December just one game in the Cup saw the them draw with fellow title contenders Clifton Rangers 3-3 . Good luck for the replay
Under 10s Just one game for the 10s in December saw them move 3 places up the table beating Spirit of Youth 4-0 with goals from Ryan Gardener, Euan Hockey (2) and Harry Wilson after drawing the first game 1-1 where Keiran Pipe was on the score sheet and set them up nicely for the 2nd half of the season
Under 11s Suffered a 5-2 defeat at Poulton their only game in December the defeat came after an unbeaten run of 5 games this really was Unlucky 13th for Nigel Fleetwood team.
Under 12s Possibly the unluckiest team in December with two games being called off at the last minute due to wintry conditions .After giving FC Rangers a 3 goal headstart on 17th January. Jack Smith despatched his penalty with confidence..Jacob Wilson went on to pick up the man of the Match award.
Under 13s Sit second in the table with two games in hand James Smiths boys are flying this season but even their silky skills could do nothing to brighten up the weather with all but one game surviving. A 6-3 win at Fleetwood Gym Joel Durham, Liam Singleton, and Chris
Hulme on the score sheet with Conah Hadgraft bagging another hat trick. A strong 2nd half of the season is expected
Under 14s Continue to climb the table this time a 5-2 win against Kirkham for Colin Evans boys. Kyle Aspindle (2) Lloyd Benson (2) and Jack Eyre were the Thornton scorers.
Under 15s Tom Smith and Mark Bone gave Steve Coulburns team an undeserved 2 – 2 draw at Wyre and will need to improve if they are to climb the table form their current 6th place standing.
Under 16s Solitary game in Dec saw the draw away at league leaders Kirkham Neil Walmsleys lads were much the better team in the closing 15 mins and could have snatched victory with Kirkham clearing off the line Eric Clayton scored twice in a 2-2 draw.
