How you respond to a threat will greatly depend on your confidence, your ability to persevere, and your ability to face your fears. It is the confidence to believe in yourself that fuels the fire of perseverance. Perseverance is your ability to never, never, never give up, until you are free from harm. Indomitable Spirit is required to face your fears. Knowledge is power! The more you know, the more you practice, the safer you will be. Blue Maxx training allows us the opportunity to practice techniques. We learn when to strike, how to strike and the best time to strike. At Link's Martial Arts we have a simple five step principle designed for self-defense. BODY, MIND, SPIRITBLUE ZONES PROJECT

The Blue Zone Project has participants engaging in the activities that research has shown are essential for happiness, health, and longevity. At Link’s Martial Arts our goal is to introduce our students to these ideas, providing information and a supportive social group as we continue to strengthen our body, mind, and spirit through martial arts training. This month LMA is putting a strong emphasis on our students ability to protect themselves from harm. Ultimately, being placed in stressful situations to achieve success in their self defense abilities. Harnessing the power of relaxation and meditation will reward students with a sense of calmness and confidence that is needed in high stress situation as well as coping with everyday life.

Philosophy of the Martial Arts Link’s Martial Arts Student Success Journal

The ultimate goal of the martial arts is to become a better person not only in the martial arts but in every area of life. By studying the martial arts the student begins to look deeper into their self. Their strengths and weaknesses are revealed. Through this process of self-reflection comes the real opportunity for growth in body, mind and spirit.

The study of the martial arts can be traced far back into the history of mankind. The originators and practitioners of the martial arts mastered techniques that would make them equal to any threat they might have to face. They came to understand that when one is far superior to their opponent they could easily control their opponent without killing. It is this understanding that releases the student from fear.

Fear is restricting. One who is fearful limits himself and often tries to impose limitation upon the freedoms of others. The student who is free from fear no longer seeks to dominate others. They are

confident in the knowledge that they will not be dominated. The student comes to realize they have a valid place in the world. They are free to develop their unique individuality.

The student masters the concept of Yin and Yang, “hard and soft”. They become mild in manner, insofar as they know they can assert their self with force if necessary. The student becomes like water. Water, which possesses tremendous force for giving life or exerting terrible destruction. Water that is a beautiful and gentle stream. Water that easily changes direction as it flows around the jagged rocks in its path.

The relaxation of meditation is an important factor in one’s ability to obtain happiness, health and longevity. This ability to go with the flow is often hard to achieve in todays highly stressed fast paced society. Those who practice meditation reap the rewards; Decrease stress, anxiety, and depression Lower blood pressure and increase blood flow Boost energy Increase clarity of mind Reduce anger and frustration Improve digestion
