“MY YEAR, WHAT IVE DONE AND WHO I AM
QUALITY AT A HIGHER STANDARD”
This is why I stand out from the rest.
Here is my significant contribution to my team…
I’ve had an extraordinary year. I started with Sun Steel as a Sandblaster. In a few months I moved up to
team B Grinder, shortly after was given the opportunity to learn a machine and become team A Machine
Operator. Since then, in this year alone, I’ve learned 3 more machines making that 5 out of the 6
machines in my department . I’ve also been certified to drive all the forklifts and side lift, when there is
something challenging that needs to be moved and needs extra precaution, I’m the one on swing they
have handle the task. I’ve Tested and passed fillet welding, worked weekends in the paint shop and I’ve
also learned and have been trusted to work additionally as a CNC Programmer/ detailer, constructing the
programs that we use to create all the parts for fabrication, Often coming in on day shift(I work swing) to
fill in for the main Programmer when needed(often due to the high volume of work and my ability to
produce quality and efficient programs) I’ve also volunteered for the safety committee and been elected
Chairman . Since my additional responsibilities as Safety Chairman I’ve enrolled in training and have
now been certified in OSHA10 hour Construction, OSHA 30 hour General Industry, OSHA Effective
Safety Committee operations and meetings, OSHA Effective Accident Investigation, OSHA Hazard
Communication, FIRST AID, CPR, and AED. Since my service as Chairman, and as a group effort
between a diligent safety committee , working as a team with the support and encouragement of the
management staff and supervisors ,we have seen a major increase in trainings and a dramatic decrease in
accidents… dropping our EMR from 0.9462 in 2015 to 0.8806 as of current, lowest It’s been and first
time in the .8’s since 2011, saving and increasing the Sun Steel overall bottom line and increasing the
chances and opportunities for newer and bigger business. I am constantly looking and researching for new
topics and more training opportunities for our committee and employee’s. I believe that proper training is
the most effective way to reduce accidents in my quest to achieve a ZERO accident count and as of so far
we are on our way to 12 months no accident. I’m the first guy to volunteer on the weekends and I often
come in early to learn something new. I stay late to fix any problem that may arise, I fill in as the swing
shift mechanic for any problem that I am capable of being able to fix to keep the production line moving,
(we currently only have day shift mechanics.) I move from position to position wherever I’m needed to be
the best of assistance for that day and for my crew. I push myself to learn and extend my knowledge. Ive
always had a drive to consistently take my standards and performance to the next level and achieve higher
goals. I’ve always gone above and beyond to solve problems that come up be it, computer crashes and
network errors, to work orders that need printed, or stuck forklifts that need pulled out of the mud, to
plowing the yard when there is heavy snow and the forklifts slide around, fixing programs when the plates
are needed ASAP and something needs changed, To loading or unloading material. I’m the guy that
spends his own money to bring pizza or donuts for the guys on weekends, cupcakes for their birthdays,
and popsicles and water on hot days to keep up the morale and camaraderie on our crew. In my
experience happy employees are productive employees and I do my best to create a safe and productive
workplace.
This is me, this is what makes me stand out from the rest.
Quality at a Higher Standard…. It comes naturally.
