New Year Milan:The New Year Milan on January 2, 2011 at Naren Gardens was amassive success with more than 1600 lions, ladies and guestparticipating. The event had entertainment including orchestra andtwo rounds of tambola with a special mega prize Refrigerator(sponsored by Ms. Sujatha D/o M Raghavender Rao) The DistrictGovernor Lion Dr G Babu Rao addressed the gathering and reviewedthe achievements and plans for the current lionistic year. About thirtypast and present District Governors, Vice District Governors fromdifferent districts attended the Milan.

Third Cabinet Meeting:The third cabinet meeting of our district was held on 9th January, 2011at GKR Gardens Medak. Lions Club of Medak Manjeera served adelicious lunch. The minutes of the meeting will be sent later.

Accolades to VarniLions club of Varni conducted a mega blood donation camp at Varnion November 12, 2010 and collected 185 units of blood. Really it is amatter of pride to collect 185 units in a rural area, which is a districtrecord for Nizamabad. Previously it was 171 units. Congratulations to

the president, secretary and to all the fine members of the club.

Three cheers to Hyderabad Jubilee HillsLions club of Hyderabad Jubilee Hills is doing excellent service activitiesduring this lionistic year. Conducted 97 eye screening camps, screened22748 people, distributed specs to 2547 needy, performed 163 IOLsurgeries, conducted 21 blood donation camps and collected 2568units, conducted two mega health camps, one twinning with swarnaregion clubs at Neela camp at Nizamabad District and anothertwinning with Lions Club of Miryalaguda of District 324 C9. Adopted aGovernment school and donated lab equipment worth Rs. 90,000/-,donated furniture, computer and sewing machine to Shradda Centrefor Special Education. Congratulations to the President and all the finemembers of Hyderabad Jubilee Hills. We hope you will continue thistrend in the future also.

Three Cheers to Hyderabad Greater AnandLions Club of Hyderabad Greater Anand is doing wonderfully well thisLionistic year. The Club has added 87 members in the first half year,which now is the biggest membership club with 129 members in theentire district 324C6. The club has extended six new clubs with total270 members. The club has conducted 226 eye screening camps atvarious government schools where 58397 children were screened and5575 free specs were distributed. The club has organized 13 blooddonation camps, 11 family welfare camps, 8 Mega Health camps, 7Diabetic camps, 2 Mega Eye screening camps, 2 Poor feeding campsand other service activities where thousands of people have benefited.We appreciate the wonderful humanitarian service of Greater Anandin serving the needy people of the community.

International President’s Award to our District GovernorInternational President Sid Scruggs awarded District Governor Lion DrG Babu Rao with “Bright Star Award” in recognizing his efforts for growthin membership and extension in the first quarter of 2010-2011. Region ConferencesSneha region Conference ‘SNEHA UTSAV’ was held on December 26,2010 at JVN Gardens, Serilingampally. Region Chairperson Lion SYadagiri presided over the meeting, Dr T Hanuman Chowdary, DirectorCentre for Communication Management Studies was the Chief Guest,District Governor Lion Dr G Babu Rao, Vice District Governors Lion DPentaiah and Lion K Penta Reddy attended the conference. All India Lions MeetThe All India Lions Meet hosted by District 324C3 and co hosted byour district on January 10-12, 2011 was a big success with goodparticipation from across the country. Various competitions,Seminars and entertainment made the Meet memorable. A paneldiscussion among six international directors on subjects related toLionism was a big highlight with interesting and inspiring debateamong them. Our district was extremely well represented withseventy five registrations, two patrons and one gold patron – LionDr G Babu Rao.

As a part of the proceedings, there was a presentation on “LifeHo Tho Aisi,” two seminars on Mentoring and Keeping Fit, Sportsand Games competitions and literary programmes. DistrictCabinet Treasurer Lion m nagaRAJU won the first prize in publicspeaking contest.

On the sidelines of the Meet, there were meetings of the LCIFCoordinators, Past District Governors and several other nationalcommittees.
