Lions are hardworking volunteers who are committed to helping others and supporting a range of causes from health and medical research to youth and the environment. Lions Clubs around Australia are holding worthwhile events all the time, but being the busy people that they are, they don’t often have time to take photographs. The Lions Australia National Office is therefore allocating funding to Clubs wishing to hire a professional photographer for their events and therefore improve our visibility and marketing efforts. LIONS AUSTRALIA: GUIDELINES FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

Date: August 2018

Introduction

Lions Australia is Australia’s largest service Club organisation with more than 1200 Clubs across Australia and Papua New Guinea.

We have developed these brief guidelines to give you photographers a better understanding of the Lions Australia brand and what we are looking for when hiring someone to shoot a Lions event.

Supply of images

By entering into this agreement with Lions Australia, you agree:

- To supply the high resolution images (digitally) within two weeks of the event taking place- To allow images to be shared on social media, websites and in official printed material (credit will be sourced)- To supply at least 15-20 high resolution images per event- That the images become property of the Club and the Lions Australia National Office

Desired image specifications

- Lions is a people-centric organisation, therefore we like photos that show a variety of different faces, ages, sexes and ethnicities

- Photos don’t always need to be staged – candid shots are welcomed - Photos of people DOING THINGS are great - people standing on a stage holding a big cheque are nice but not

very exciting- Visible Lions branding is ideal – e.g. on signage, shirts, banners- Special guests and officials, or specific photo opportunities, will be identified in advance - Capturing the human element is very important to us

Photographing children and young people

To avoid privacy breeches or issues regarding consent, we recommend that children be photographed in a way that they can’t be easily identified. However, we understand that this is not always possible, and often photographs of children do add substance to an event. In these instances, we advise photographers to issue a release form to the parent/guardian (to be provided).
