SO LONG, FAREWELL, AUF WIEDERSEHEN, GOODBYE DG BILL UHRIG

You may recognize those words as coming from the sound track of the Hol-lywood musical “The Sound of Music”. As I look at those words and the tune runs through my head they hold true. While this is my last monthly article as your sitting Governor I am saying “so long, farewell, auf Wiederse-hen, goodbye” in that capacity. Continued from page 1 Best wishes to Jeff Schafer as Council Chair during the Lion Year 2015-2016. I know you’ll make us proud just as Reed Fish, Sue Topf and Steve Winegardner did when they served in that capacity from District F. As Bob Hope used to say when he signed off from his radio and TV shows “thanks for the memo-ries”. Through the efforts of those mentioned I feel they fulfilled that charge. A not big but HUGE thanks goes to the membership of District 25F who welcomed myself, Lion Patsy, CS Don Mullen and DGE John Brown as they accompanied me as I visited with the Clubs on my “Official Visit”. It was great to see them where they meet and see some of the buildings they so proudly maintain and call home. Also thanks to those clubs who came together as a Zone for the visit saving additional nights on the road. A big thanks to Lion Patsy, my bride of 56 years come June 6th, for becoming a Lion in June 2010. She accompanied me on official visits and I know she thoroughly enjoyed meeting Lions through-out the District we had yet to interface with and I feel they enjoyed meeting her. She encouraged me on occasions when I felt overwhelmed with meeting deadlines and I worried all would come together as relates to the functions I was to oversee during the year. She was a huge help. My thanks to all Lions of District 25F, no matter in what capacity “you served” for making my year a learning experience. You don’t know just how much you don’t know until you undertake the DG job. Thanks for being patient with me while I did on the job training. Lastly thanks to the Council of Governors I was privileged to serve with Glen Swanson “A”, Steve Hanan “B”, Charles Roth “C”, Kathy Lozier “D”, Jeff Schafer “E” and Marty Juel “G”. They not only were colleagues but became lifelong friends.

Lions of District 25F: I hope the days of Spring have been good to you and your family! The Lions of Multiple District 25 have just finished one of the best State Conventions in recent memory. We had positive com-ments on the convention attendance, programs and accommodations from International President Preston all the way to the last person who registered. A great time was had by all and a tip of the cap to District 25F for hosting and making it such a wonderful time for all our guests. I want to thank our host committee headed up by Sue Topf and her amazing District Volunteers who put on such a great convention. Great Job!! Next year the State Convention heads to District G and to Amish Country in beautiful Shipshewana, Indiana. Make your plans now for what will be another great State Convention! My year as District Governor is right around the corner and many people ask if I am ready. I usu-ally answer with a positive response but in reality you never can never be fully ready for such a big undertaking. Every day another task comes before you or a position that you thought was filled is now vacant. It is part of what makes life challenging but also rewarding. I have had many amazing Lions

step up to fill roles in my cabinet and I cannot thank them enough! If you are reading this article and

would like to be more involved on the District Level do not hesitate to contact me. The door may open right

now for you to serve Lionism in a way that fits your skills and interests perfectly! Have a great month and

I look forward to hearing from you as I start my journey as your District Governor!

DGE John Brown

All flyers and news items must be received by the 20th of each month any received after that will be put in next month’s newsletter. Any information must be sent to [email protected]

Effective with the July 2015 Newsletter, the following will be in effect: Only e-mail addresses in the 2015-2016 District 25F directory will be sent the District Governor’s newsletter. Club presidents/Secretaries are responsible for ensuring that club members are furnished the newsletter, either by forwarding via email, or making hard copies.
