Lions Gate Christian Academy LGCA is a community rooted in the teachings of Jesus where all students are loved, challenged and equipped to
be purposeful contributors in their communities.
Newsletter – October 26, 2017
Dear Parents,
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Proverbs 3:27
As November approaches, we are gearing up for our Fall Fundraiser Campaign. More details will follow, but you can already see a creative graphic waiting to take shape on the bulletin board in the foyer as you enter the school. Every year we come to our LGCA community for two major fundraisers: the one occurring in November and our Spring Gala. We need every family to contribute to make these two fundraisers successful. Please be ready do your part to support LGCA.
Of course, there are other fundraisers that are voluntary, such as our chocolate sales, poinsettia sales and various other smaller initiatives. For those voluntary fundraisers, the idea is that if you’re going to buy chocolates for Christmas, why not buy them from LGCA and support LGCA? If you're going to buy a poinsettia for Christmas, why not buy it from our PAC and help support LGCA?
As important as it is to raise funds, we also want to raise the “fun factor”. In fact, next Friday, November 3, at 7:00 pm we have our first fall fair. While parents are working with board members in the elementary gymnasium to better understand the Purpose Statement, our students will be enjoying themselves in the high school gymnasium participating in various activities and games. At 8 o’clock, we will all come together in the high school gymnasium to enjoy each other’s company as we laugh and share with one another. This event is not a fundraiser, as any fees collected that night will cover the costs for this fun event. We look forward to a fantastic turnout as we continue to find ways to further build and strengthen the community at LGCA.

We are excited to share our next community building event coming up on November 3rd from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the school. Please note this is not a FUNDRAISER. This is an evening of community building for our LGCA community. The evening will comprise of a combined event, having a parent group in the elementary gym from 7:00 – 8:00 pm led by the board chair Rob Tarnowski and Principal, Adam Reid focusing on introducing and solidifying LGCA’s new purpose statement: LGCA is a community rooted in the teachings of Jesus where all students are loved, challenged and equipped
to be purposeful contributors in their communities.
At the same time from 7-9 pm we will be hosting our 1st Annual Fall Fair in the High School Gym focusing on some fun and games for our Primary and Elementary students being run by our High School Student council and High School volunteers. We are asking that the children dress up for the night in their favourite farm themed costumes. We will have games set up and supervised by the high school volunteers and adult volunteers and will include, Balloon Darts, Bean Bag Toss, Ring Toss, Ducks in a Pond, Apples on a String and Face Painting. The children will receive tickets to redeem for prizes. Please see attached poster. Further details will follow.
Harvest Food Drive and Non-Uniform Day for students to Kindergarten to Grade 12 On Tuesday, October 31st the Grade 6 & 7 classes will be holding a Food Drive for the Harvest Project. We are asking students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 to please bring non-perishable food items (most needed are: baked beans, canned vegetables and fruit, canned fish, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce, granola bars and crackers) and wear their harvest colours! (No costumes please). The food items collected will be donated to North Vancouver's Harvest Project Food Bank. Last year, LGCA collected over 800 items. This year we hope to collect 1200! Please help us reach that goal! Students should bring non-perishable items to participate in this non-uniform day. Continuing on with this service project on November 7th, the Gr 8 Bible Class will bring these donations and help sort it at their facility. In addition, if we as a community are able to, Harvest Project requested Diapers (size 6 or 7) as this is their top listed need for single mothers they support. This is a great LGCA community event to collect food and then sort it the following week. Thank you for your support. High School Athletics
