The agreement was signed in 2011 and over the past 10 years, the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in Merritt housed plaques and memorabilia of Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame legends and hosted thousands of visitors from around the world. A new society, the Canadian Society of Country Music and Heritage, will operate the newly branded Canadian Country Music Hall of Honour in the current premises on Quilchena Ave. in cooperation with the CCMA. The Inductee plaques will remain in Merritt and be on display along with the memorabilia and digital Inductee pro- gram for visitors from all over the world to enjoy. Leading the new society will be Susan Roline, who along with a new Board will continue to promote Canadian Country Music and Western Heritage, as well as host- ing live music events featuring local and Canadian artists in the Hall of Honour. The new society plans to expand the visitor experience in the coming months. The Canadian Country Music Heritage Society will revert back to the original name of the Merritt Walk of Stars Society and the focus will again be to manage and oversee the Walk of Stars and the country music Murals. The Merritt Walk of Stars Society is excited about developing partnerships with local business owners and Tourism Nicola Valley to display and maintain the Walk of Stars. Both Societies are committed to working together to promote Country Music and Western Heritage in the Nicola Valley. But the Cda Border Protection Agen- cy still does not recognize the folks that have taken the time/trouble/expense; and if you want to drive/walk across from the USA to Cda, you still have to have a neg molecular test ($100) within 72 hours; and then still quarantine for 2 weeks. ie no recognition of the vaccina- tion procedure that the Gov’t is touting so vociferously. I feel, as a layman, that, if you have had the required vaccine, and it was done 2 weeks prior, and you can show a neg test in the last 72 hrs, one should be allowed to have quarantine reduced---or eliminated entirely. What metaphor, which font, and how to ex- press myself without pointing fingers at the present? Perhaps I should look to the past to illustrate my latest revelation, because only the faces have changed and not the illusion. The European Monarchs of old didn’t really battle each other, and if one mon- archy fell, by way of the general public, the other monarchs would descend on that territory to restore the fallen family’s power. The story of Napoleon Bonaparte illustrates this fact well. Napoleon freed his people from the French Monarchy to only have the other European Monarchs, turn by turn, attack him. They eventual- ly defeated Napoleon and restored mo- narchical power. They then tampered with the history books to depict Bona- parte as a troublemaker. The ruling families of yesterday be- longed to the same circle, and more often than not, to the same bloodline, and each had a territory they governed. Sometimes, like siblings, they quarrelled. Sometimes, like drunken friends, they wrestled. And sometimes, like spiteful ex-lovers, they warred. But in the end, they typically reconciled and resumed their control over the world. The same is true of today and only the faces have changed and not the illusion.
