PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS
I am a behavioral scientist specializing in the epidemiology and promotion of physical activity.
My research program primarily focuses on the development and evaluation of technology-
supported interventions to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior in cancer
survivors. I have led or collaborated on eight randomized trials in this area, as well as three trials
of physical activity or weight loss interventions for women at elevated cancer risk. Our newest
study will determine the optimal augmentation strategies for breast and endometrial cancer
survivors who do not respond to a low-dose, technology-based intervention delivered through the
patient portal of the electronic health record (EHR). My intervention work is supported by other
lines of research that address the accuracy of commercial wearable activity trackers, physical
activity needs of rural populations, and epidemiologic approaches to physical activity and cancer.
