PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES and ACHIEVEMENTS

AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE - I was a Federal Agent and Team Leader on a joint investigation with the ATO where we analysed realms of tax data, identifying anomalies and a complex $3m fraud. I then arrested two persons and, working closely with a Department of Public Prosecutions counterpart I compiled a lengthy Brief of Evidence, which involved extensive interviews and obtaining statements.

Other AFP investigations that I completed with my Team were: apprehending a large cocaine importing syndicate; working with the Department of Immigration on a number of immigration matters; GBH (date rape drug) importation and its use by a paedophile group; a number of Centrelink Frauds; and, cultivating an informant within AFP Intelligence.

AUSTRALIAN CONSUMERS’ ASSOCIATION – I conducted a large scale qualitative survey, conducting numerous Focus Groups to ascertain public perceptions of major appliances. I also conducted a qualitative research project on prams, their practicality and safety. Other research contracts saw me analysing qualitative & quantitative data, for the Department of Community Services, from NSW wide staff survey and another, saw me use a model designed by Human Synergistics, to analyse statistical data and assess the culture within this corporation. In each case I compiled the findings, including comparisons, correlations and complex graphs into a report, to be submitted to relevant ministers, taskforce members, government personnel and senior management.

MALLESON’S STEPHEN JAQUES (Solicitors) – I provided an interactive component to the 1997 National Staff Briefings. I worked closely with the Director of Human Resources and Training to develop an objective & expansive, yet concise, questionnaire to be completed by all staff. I tabulated the data from the questionnaire, analysing it against related filters and variables. Using advanced Excel skills I compiled my findings into a report, to support the implementation of human resource initiatives, to be presented to the Chief Executive Partner. Finally, I wrote an associated article for the in-house newsletter

AUSTRADE – At Austrade I was responsible for coordinating participants of international trade missions. For each mission into Australia, I designed a schedule then arranged meetings, transport, accommodation, interpreters and social activities. Working with staff internally to ascertain their requirements, I designed an Access Database for recording client and industry contacts. As assistant to the Defence Delegate, I kept extensive files and was able to inform clients of export opportunities relevant to their business.

ICMS AUSTRALASIA (Conference and Event Management) – I produced a number of technical, interactive events for high profile clients. This involved liaising with staging and technical companies, venues, caterers, entertainers and my client to deliver a presentation or event within budget, which satisfied their brief. The nature of the interactive system, which was my specialisation, meant that I had to work closely with clients to design a questionnaire that was not only suitable for the medium but was subjective in attracting practical, appropriate information. The nature of this job meant extensive travel throughout Australia and New Zealand.

TEACHING – At various stages, I have taught a number of casual days in private high schools and more recently in state primary schools.

AUSTRALIAN ARMY RESERVES – As Pay Clerk and Unit Level Recruiter at 1Commando Company, I administered the payroll for one hundred and fifty soldiers; made recruiting presentations and assessed recruits’ suitability for our Unit.
