O All characters have thought privacy except ONE
O Gives the impression that we are very close to the mind of that ONE character, though viewing it from a distance

O The character fights against social traditions or rules (fight for freedom, rights, for a cause, etc.)

Internal ConflictO Man vs. Self
O The character’s struggle takes place in his/her own mind.
O Usually has something to do with a choice (choosing between right and wrong), or it may have to do with overcoming emotions or mixed feelings.

CharacterizationO Direct: The author tells the reader
about a character (looks and personality)
