The university

University is the opportunity that we have to study in an institution of learning for the

highest level, is the opportunity to

learn about what we like and work in

the job we want. Sometimes the most

difficult thing is to study or not, many

people prefer not to study, others

prefer to study, but there are many

people that don´t have the money to

pay the University.

This happens a lot, many young people dream about to go to the University, have a

scholarship and end the University with good grades. That´s why some Universities are

free, some Universities give the opportunity to study, but sometimes the Universities have

many students that they can´t have a lot students, that’s why the exams are difficult, they

only want people that have previous knowledge and wanted to learn.

But what is the difference between private and public Universities?

There are many differences between the free Universities and the private Universities,

the differences can be about the prestige, costs, type of students, relationship between

professor-student, experience, demand, teachers, variety of careers, organization,

practice and study materials.

The difference in prestige in public Universities is that they have a high-level of prestige

than the private, the private has a social recognition opposite the public Universities. In

private Universities you have to pay and the payment increases every year, you also have

to pay the inscription and tuition, in public University is free, that´s why the public

University has people of all kinds and in the private we relates only with people of the

same social status, generally high. The relationship between professor-student in private

Universities is closer which improves the learning of students than the public. In public

Universities there are a lot of students the relationship isn´t closer which decreases the

education level. The problem with private Universities is having it all figured out and when

Page 8: Literature final magazine

P á g i n a 7 | 13

you go out "to the world" experience you need to face some difficulties, otherwise in public

Universities like everything depends on and exclusively on one it gives you a lot to solve

problems you may have.

The demand is almost the same, much depends on the teacher but is generally high. In

public Universities teachers are like gods, they decide and you miss the banker you have

to decide, to take into consideration something not given in class and nobody can tell

them anything. To handle different content. They do what they want but in general are

very good professionals. In private

Universities teachers are

employees of the University. They

are always controlled and often are

pressured to approve or lower the

requirement for students in order

not to lose customers. They are also professionals and sometimes also teach classes in

public universities, only here lose the freedom to work your way.

The variety of careers very short in public Universities, in private Universities there are

lots on offer racing and sometimes extravagant and unhelpful. The organization in public

Universities it's all fairly organized and information should be collected by the students.

In private Universities it's all well-organized: you notified your class schedules,

classrooms where you work, dates of final exams, etc.

Practice and study material in public Universities should be addressed by the student. In

private Universities the University gives the student all the tools so you can practice and

the material is properly prepared to be easily obtained, by which one comes out with more

practice.

In conclusion I think the public university as the private university have the same level of

education, the biggest difference is economically speaking, and the material that we buy

and the entrance exam also have to pay. But I think that all universities should be free,

because it is not fair pay for a good education, much less pay for wanting to have a good

job in the future and be prepared for it.

Autobiography

My name is Karyme Lucero Vega

Cortés. I was born in 2000 in Puebla,

Puebla. My father Jesus David Vega

Ramos is a lawyer, but know he´s

working in a company. My mom Nora

Irma Cortés Figueroa is a housewife;

she always stays at home and takes

care of us. I have a brother and sister, my sister is 22 years old and my brother is 17

years old.

In 2007 I met the best friend of my dad, his name is Elias, the first time he saw me he

says I was going to change Mexico that I was going to be a senator or president of México.

In that year all my thoughts were based on what he says.

I always dreamed to have a good job, learned many languages I can and to be prepared

for life. Something that motivates me and makes me want to study politics is the support

I have of my family, my father always has an answer for almost everything, he is very

smart and my mom always gives me good ideas to change this world and to be a better

person.

The question everybody ask me is why I want to study politics? The truth is that I like It, I

know I can accomplish all my goals and dreams. In 2013 I started listening what people

think about Mexico and what they would do to make it better, then my mom and my dad

gave me their opinions and in that year I believed that everything is possible if you wanted

to be possible, I full my brain of good ideas and life projects in which I could help in the

future with my job.

In 2015 I started learning Chinese and I started going to “The art of public speaking”,

why? Because Chinese can help in the future, what if I have to go to China for something

related to work, and the second thing I started to improve my speaking, I have my ideas

and in my mind they are good, but when I tried to explain someone what I want or what I

think my mind can´t explain the way I wanted to explain.

Jamie´s University

Jamie is intelligent student of the “Alakins high-school” she have an average of 9.7 in the

last semesters, she is good at sports and is a very responsible person. She was born on

April 13th in New York. In March 18th, Jamie finished high school and decided the

University she wanted to go. In May 27th, Jamie applied to the “NYU” because she read

that the NYU is the best University located in New York, she was very nervous about the

exam, so she studied a lot, every day she studied until the day of the exam arrived. The

exam was not difficult say Jamie to her mother Nancy. Her mother was a teacher in kinder

garden, her mother was more nervous than her daughter because if Jamie doesn´t enter

with a scholarship she would not be able to afford the school. Barely she can pay the food

of the house, but pay a University? One month later Jamie received a letter from the NYU,

she get accepted in the NYU, as soon as possible she saw the results went to find her

mother. Her mother was very proud of her, she felt like everything is going to be find. But

then Jamie say to Nancy something unexpected.

This happens very fast, said Jamie to her mother Nancy, - I can´t do this, what if I fail?

Her mother hug her and tell her that everything will be okay. University is the best

experience you can live, it is okay if you are scared, and at first we all are.

One week before Jamie enters to the University, she started to study and to prepare her

materials however she was very nervous of the teachers and the new friends she will met.

The days pass and it was Jamie´s first day, she was very happy and anxious. In her first

class the met Mark, her philosopher teacher who was very tall, his eyes were blue and

his personality was tough. At his first class, when he entered to the classroom, he asked

his students a question, but why no one could answer it? The question was simple:

-What are you expecting of University? Do you think your interests will change?

Jamie think a lot in the question, but the truth was that she didn´t expect anything, she

only say that she thought that University was meant to know what you want in life

otherwise Helena who was near to Jamie said that the thinks University was to be

prepared for any job you want and to learn more about what you like. In front of Jamie,

Thomas a very handsome guy just say that he expected experience to have a good job

and maintain his family who is in bankruptcy. Jamie felt good, she believe that when

someone talk like that about family, than person was worth it. The time pass and

everybody say their opinions, Jamie was impressed about some answers of her

classmates although Jamie felt better when she started to know more about her new

friends and she realized that she will have a lot of friends starting the semester.

The class finished and Jamie needed to find the biology class, before that she go to the

cafeteria and buy some food even so she met Sung a Korean boy, Sung is a smart person

with piano and violin skills however he is a little reserved and he doesn´t talk a lot about

he or his family. Jamie asked Sung where the biology class was.

Sung: Biology class? I also go there

Jamie: Really? Something tells me that we are going to be good friends

Sung: I´m not a person with friends but I think the same as you!

Jamie: Which semester are you in?

Sung: 4th semester and you?

Jamie: 1st semester, this is my first day so I were very nervous.

Sung: Don´t worry, I felt the same or worst in my first day, but then you started to get used

to it.

Jamie: Okay then, I hope so.

Sung: We are late, let´s go to class!

Jamie: Yes, let´s go!

In order to arrive early to the class Sung and Jamie they had to run as a result they arrive

early and Jamie met Thomas, the best friend of Sung. Thomas was considered the most

handsome of the entirely University, he was tall and his personality was amazing. At the

time that Jamie arrive to the classroom, Thomas look at her and smile to her. Jamie was

very happy to know that the most handsome guy in the University smiled at her. The class

pass and Jamie kept seeing Thomas and Thomas kept seeing Jamie on the contrary

Sung said to Jamie that Thomas was a very nice person, but that he has a girlfriend. At

the end of the class Thomas approach Jamie and they started talking.

Thomas: Hi! Is this your first semester?

Jamie: Yes! How did you know?

Thomas: Because you are beautiful, is impossible not to see you.

Jamie started laughing and she get blushing.

Jamie: Thanks but don´t say that again, please.

Thomas: Why? You don´t like that?

Jamie: No, is because I feel nervous jaja

Thomas: Okay, no problem.

The Sung approach them and started taking about the class, he asked Jamie if she liked

the class.

Jamie: Yes, I´m really impressed of this University, teachers are very smart and also the

students.

Thomas: Yes, this University is the best! Also tonight the school organizes a party to

celebrate the new ones. You should go!

Sung: Yes Jamie, you should go!

Jamie: Okay then, I´m going, but where is going to be?

Sung: Is going to be at 7:00pm on the central park of the University.

Jamie: Fine, see you later!

At 6:30 Jamie started to freshen up and she go to the party, everyone was there, her

classroom friends and, Sung and Thomas. They spend all the party taken photos, dancing

and laughing. Jamie arrive home and she felt very nice, like she was part of a good

friendship. The next day she woke up with a good mood even though she discovered

Page 13: Literature final magazine

that Thomas had been her kinder garden best friend also she had a photo with him in a

Christmas event. As soon she arrive school, Thomas was waiting for her.

Jamie: Hi, Thomas! Guess what?

Thomas: Hi Jamie, what happened?

Jamie: You and I were friends since kinder garden, since yesterday I feel like I knew you

all this time, and I started to look at my photos and see, this is a photo of you and me in

a Christmas event.

Thomas: Really? I didn´t know that!

Jamie: Yes, I need to go to class, see you later, Thom

Thomas: Sure Jamie, good luck

Time later, Jamie was at her philosophy class trying to find the answer to what is she

expecting from the university and if her interests would change, she didn´t have any

answer, her mind was completely in white. The class was just finishing and she had any

answer for the question, so her professor, Mr. Jones led her answer for the next class.

At some point she was frustrated for couldn´t answer a simple question, she just layed

down on the gorgeous garden of the University and Thomas arrived with her, he asked

her what was happening and she told him how she felt with that situation. Thomas stared

laughing, he said Jamie that this kind of question doesn’t need to be replayed with the

mind, but with the heart, that she just needed to feel what she like to do, to feel her vision

of this new cycle in life and to feel is everything was the same or could be different. The

answer was there, just inside her heart.

Jamie now knowed all the answers to all of her questions where just there, inside her,

she just needed to let her heart feel.

Finally Jamie could find the answer although she didn´t know if her interests would change,

Thomas was a great person, with good advices, suddenly everything change and she

was happy at that moment.

Conclusion

I think that there is not part easy or hard, every subject has some difficulty in the

moment you are doing the work, but maybe the hardest part was the short story,

because I didn’t know what to talk about so I started writing what my mind was

thinking, in the end I didn’t like it too much but in my opinion it is a story that

motivates young people to do their best and to planned their goals even if they

don’t know what they wanted. The part that I like the most was when I started

doing my article and my autobiography, my article was based on statistics,

everyone who lives in the United States knows that those 3 Universities I talked

early are the most expensive but also the best Universities in the United States, I

do my article based on statistics because I like to have proof that what I´m saying

is true. My autobiography is about what I want since I knew that I wanted to study

in the University, I also talk about the University that I want. Everything I talk in my

magazine I guess is because of me, if I didn´t know what I want when I get to the

University, my life will feel like horrible.
