For a student new to JCPS, assigned to an ESL program school, the PSP will be sent electronically, with pages 1 – 3 already completed (except for Student ID)

Limited or No Formal Education = Enrollment in a school with calendar less than 6

months/year Enrollment in a school that meets for less than 4

hours/day, 5 days/week No access to or attendance in school for 2 or more

SIOP One framework for helping teachers

implement instructional and assessment accommodations and build academic language is Sheltered English Observation Protocol (SIOP).

SIOP is one model of sheltered instruction that is the most researched, developed, and explicated of the sheltered instruction variations (Herrera & Murry p. 283).
