Whether its high intensity training or a casual walk, reach the top of the dune path for breath-taking views of St. Ouen’s Bay.

Our famous Jersey cows have been making the creamiest, richest and smoothest ice cream in the world since 1763. Fact. Probably the reason why Jersey Dairy ice cream is just too good to pass up. Best enjoyed with the sand between your toes, or as a sweet treat after a hard day’s fun as the sun sinks over Corbière Lighthouse, shared with the family for a generous scoop of happiness. Best enjoyed anytime really.

When Jersey’s tides drop, the warm beach rockpools are left teeming with life from tiny crabs and fish to colourful anemones.Stay still, keep quiet, and adventurous rock poolers will be rewarded with glimpses of sea creatures at their feet. Try Gréve de Lecq and Green Island at low tide for easy access rock pooling - just don’t venture too far out and keep an eye on the tide.

If you’d like to delve a little deeper and learn the difference between a snake locks sea anemone and a brittle starfish thenwhy not book a rock pool ramble with the experts? Jersey Walk Adventures offer a range of walks exploring the internationallyrecognized Ramsar Wetlands site – a marine version of the Jersey National Park. For a once in a lifetime trip, book in advance for their Bioluminescence trip, where you head out after dark at low tide in search of tiny creatures which glow in the dark like fireflies or glow worms.

At the top of our list has got to be St. Brelade's Bay – set in a beautiful location, there is good reason why it is one of Jersey’s most popular beaches. The views are stunning, it has soft, clean, golden sands and crystal clear water with gentle waves. There is parking across the road from the beach, or alternatively it is easily accessible by public transport. The bay itself has plenty of places to grab a bite, from beach cafés to gourmet restaurants. No wonder it’s been voted one of the best beaches in the UK – a beach not to be missed.

This sheltered north facing beach is fringed with wooded slopes and leafy country pubs. A beach that will easily keep you, and your little ones entertained all day. With rocks to climb, pools to search for critters in and a sea that’s never too far out even at a low tide, all make this beach a winner with families. However, perhaps its crowning glory is the little stream that runs down the beach, where children play captivated for hours damming and re-damming the flow whilst parents watch from their deck chairs. It’s easy to find a parking spot and there are laidback beachside cafés with every facility along the sunny boardwalk.

This beach is well worth the effort of reaching it! Located on Jersey’s rugged north coast and accessed by quite a few steps is one of Jersey’s most beautiful beaches. A sandy cove on the north west tip of the island with many rock pools, fascinating sea caves, and even a freshwater waterfall. There are some stunning cliff path walks across the top of the bay for those adventurers who want to explore further. A word of warning though, check the tide times as the lovely sand is completely covered at high tide and everyone moves up onto the rocks, but when the tide retreats, it exposes numerous pools with sandy bottoms which are ideal for young children to play in.

*These three beaches all have public toilets, baby changing facilities, cafés and RNLI lifeguards in the summer months.

Settle into a slower pace this morning and take to two wheels. For a kid-friendly route, head to the railway walk cycle track which runs from St. Aubin’s Village to La Corbière Lighthouse along what was once the Jersey Railway track. Nowadays it’s an off-road gravel cycle path with a café and children’s playground en route. Hire bikes, tandems, kids’ tagalongs or for those looking for an easier ride grab an electric bike, at the start of the cycle path in St. Aubin from an old WWII tunnel and set off on an expedition.

Many would say that exploring by bike is the most enjoyable and immersive way to experience a destination. Treat your senses to the scent of the gorse, the sound of seabirds or the sight of the crashing waves as you spin your way around Jersey’s coastal roads. With a network of 15 mph ‘green lanes’ throughout the island's countryside and miles of bicycle-friendlyroutes, discover the island on two wheels.

See Jersey’s woodlands from a new angle as you step out into thin air; zip-lining through the trees and taking a leap of faith from tree-height platforms, all attached via a body harness of course. A lower route of more gentle walkways is better suited for those who prefer to keep their feet closer to the ground at Valley Adventure Centre. Test your head for heights by aerial trekking, get your adrenaline fix on the king swing, take aim and fire with archery, give climbing and abseiling a go or battle it out in paintball or laser combat!

Elizabeth Castle can be reached at low tide by foot, or, no matter what tide, you could take a ride on the castle amphibious duck, which will transport you across the bay to and from the castle. Elizabeth Castle is the perfect place to spend a day exploring Jersey's history. Climb the battlements, explore the turrets and bunkers and discover the Hermitage where Saint Helier is thought to have lived around 550 A.D. Meet the 18th century Master Gunner on the Parade Ground. He’ll put you through your paces before marching off to the cockpit to fire the Black Powder cannon. Make sure enemies are kept at a distance!

Located just a few minutes walk from the ferry departure for Elizabeth Castle it’s an easy place to grab a picnic and refuel for the next adventure. A family run cafe, The Lookout is the result of a passion for simple good food and the desire for a life beside the sea. We recommend the scones with clotted cream and the homemade cakes served alongside the loose leaf tea served in vintage china.

Whilst a wine estate may not be the first thought on a family trip, with a great playground, chocolate tasting and a treasure hunt throughout the vineyard and estate it’s ok for the grown-ups to treat themselves to a tasting. Reconnect with nature in the beautiful vineyards and orchards of La Mare, in the heart of Jersey’s countryside. Savour handmade wines, spirits, preserves and more on tours and tastings.

If you prefer to feel the sand beneath your toes one last time then grab a BBQ, light the coals and cook up some local John Hackett sausages alongside some hand dived local scallops or lobster. Sit back and relax with a local beer in hand whilst the sun slowly sets on your island break.

Dining al fresco has gained a new level of importance for us all. Pull up a deckchair for a sundowner or pick a table outside for dinner. As you watch the sun slip beyond the horizon you can spot the surfers in the break catching the last waves of the day. Enjoy great world flavours like fish taco’s, ribs and curries using the island’s rich local produce.
