And ONE MORE FUNNY…from Father Bill

An air traffic control tower suddenly lost communications with a small twin engine aircraft. A moment later the tower landline rang and was answered by one of the employees. The female passenger riding with the pilot, who lost communications, was on a cellular phone and yelled "Mayday, mayday!! The pilot had a fatal heart attack. I grabbed his cell phone out of his pocket, and he had told me before we took off that he had the tower on his speed dial. I am flying upside down at 18,000 feet and travelling at 180 mph. Help!!" The employee in the tower had put her on speaker phone immediately. "Calm down, we acknowledge you and will guide you down after a few questions. The first thing is not to panic, remain calm!!" He began his series of questions. Tower: "How do you know you are travelling at 18,000 feet?" Aircraft: "I can see that it reads 18,000 feet on the dials in front of me". Tower: "Ok good, remain calm. How do you know you are travelling at 180 mph??" Aircraft: "I can see that it reads 180 mph on the dials in front of me". Tower: “Ok, how do you know you're flying upside down??" Aircraft: "Because the stuff in my pants is sliding down my neck!"

The 40 Film is coming to Rapid City on January 17! 40 is a powerful pro-life documentary film that takes on the heated issue of abortion in

our nation that refuses to go away. Is abortion merely a religious or political issue or is it

the most important fundamental human rights issue of our times? 40 features inspiring

stories and deeply personal interviews with champions of the pro-life movement. The film

also addresses some of the strongest arguments for the pro-choice position countered by

pro-life answers from a wide and diverse array of pro-life activists, leaders and youth.

The film investigates some of the difficult questions in the abortion debate such as:

Doesn’t a woman have the right to choose what she does with “her body”? Is there a

dispute about when human life begins or does human life begin at conception? Is the

fetus just a glob of tissue or a person with inalienable rights? Was the Roe v. Wade

decision, which legalized abortion good for women? 40 will answer these and many other

important questions about abortion. A group of generous individuals and families have

combined resources to bring this film to our community. A free showing of 40 with a

talk by the producer, John Morales, will take place on Sunday, January 17 at 2pm

at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Fine Arts Theater in Rapid City. FREE

TICKETS AVAILABLE in the parish office! or reserved at Eventbrite.com under “40

REFUEL 2016 For all who serve the Church in religious education, youth ministry, evangelization or catechesis of any kind, join us January 29-30 for Refuel 2016: OUTSIDE THE BOX: How to make Saints out of everyday Sinners. This will be a great opportunity to meet with other religious educators and youth ministers from around the diocese, and we plan to take some time to talk about relational ministry and thinking outside the box to bring all of us, sinners that we are, closer to Christ, to become the saints that we are called to be. We’ll be discussing building relationships and community, and come together for prayer, fellowship, and practical information and discussion for evangelistic and catechetical ministries. We’ll begin with Mass & dinner at 5:30pm on Friday evening, and end at about 4:30pm on Saturday. Cost is $50, and if you would like to stay at Terra Sancta overnight, there are lodging options available at a lower rate as well. Register online at: http://terrasancta.org/Refuel2016
