WELCOMESeason’s Greetings from the Liverpool Empire

and welcome to our Winter/Spring programme

for Christmas and the New Year.

Christmas just isn’t Christmas without

pantomime and this year we are proud to host

a story of a poor young boy from the wrong side

of the tracks on a quest to win the heart of a

beautiful princess - with a little help from

Hollywood superstar Pamela Anderson! This

year’s laugh-a-minute panto has something for

all the family, and with Les Dennis returning

to the Empire as Wishee Washee and Mark

Moraghan on baddie duties as Abanazar,

Aladdin is set to round off the year with a bang!

We’ve a great season for dance lovers, starting

with the Russian State Ballet of Siberia’s

productions of the Nutcracker and Swan Lake,

followed by a visit from the West End production

of Footloose in March. April meanwhile brings

two very different dance styles, with Thriller

Live celebrating the career of Michael Jackson

and Matthew Bourne returning with an

enchanting new production of Cinderella.

We are also thrilled to be welcoming

Corrie! in February for a new comedy that takes

an affectionate look back at 50 years on the

set of Coronation Street. Musical lovers are not

forgotten this season either, with The All New

Original Tribute to the Blues Brothers in

February, Keith Jack taking the lead in Joseph

in March and Clare Sweeney in Tell Me On A

Sunday in April.

Finally, you can now enjoy something to eat or

drink in out new cafe bar in our Box Office when

you visit to book your tickets (more information

on page 27).

On behalf of the whole team, l look forward to

welcoming you to the Liverpool Empire in

the very near future.

Best wishes

‘A DAZZLING SPECTACLE’ THE TIMES

Direct from London’s Sadler’s Wells comes New Adventures’

beautiful and unique interpretation of the best loved

fairytale of all, Cinderella.

Set in London during the Second World War, Matthew Bourne’s

interpretation of Prokofiev’s haunting score has, at its heart, a true

wartime romance. A chance meeting results in a magical night for

Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just long

enough to fall in love before being parted by the horrors of the

Blitz. Bourne’s vivid storytelling has never been more heart-

stopping and touching, creating a unique and unforgettable

depiction of a familiar and beloved fable.

Matthew Bourne has achieved worldwide artistic success

with his imaginative new stagings of popular classics such

as Swan Lake, The Car Man, Nutcracker!, Dorian Gray

and Edward Scissorhands.
