“He said, “Come”. Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.” - MATTHEW 14:29 When you hear Jesus calling, do you respond immediate-ly and trust that He knows what He’s doing? If so, you are walking on water! When we say “yes” to Jesus, we feel the power of his presence in our lives. We can feel the freedom it gives us! Listen how Jesus is calling you to live the extraordinary life He has in mind for you.

Dear Parishioners,

While it barely seems possible, it’s true – school will reconvene this coming Wednesday, August 16th! Where did the summer go?! As we look forward to another academic year, I am grateful to all who help make Holy Infant School and Parish School of Reli-gion so vibrant and strong. I’m especially grateful to those who support our school financially, par cu-larly those who contribute to our Tui on Assistance Fund. Your generosity helps to assist families in fi-nancial need. Holy Infant Parish is commi ed to maintaining a strong Catholic elementary school, as well as a quality Parish School of Religion (P.S.R.) program. There are few things as important to us as forming our children in the ways of our faith.

Please pray for all of our students, teachers, cate-chists, principal, director and staff – that this new school year may be a year during which we may all “grow in wisdom and grace.”

On another note, we are happy to welcome Fr. Ed Hauf, the brother of Bob and Jodi Hauf of our parish who will be with us this weekend as well as next weekend while visi ng his family. It’s always great to have Fr. Hauf with us! I know that I speak in the name of the en re parish in thanking Fr. Hauf for presiding at many of our liturgies!

God’s blessings for a great week!

RCIA

Sessions Start Next Month!

What is RCIA-Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults? Simply put, it is a process for those not Catholic – or those born Catholic, but not educated in the Catholic faith – who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church. Inquirers have a chance to get their questions answered and learn more about the Bible, the Mass, the Sacraments, and our rich Catholic traditions, as well as gain insight to God’s call for them in their lives. The RCIA process embodies a vision that life in the Church be deeply connected to evangelization and initia-tion, as it reaches out to bring new members into the community in a meaningful way. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the Catholic Church, call and register today! Sessions begin in early September. To register or get more information, call Laura Marlo at (636) 346-7983.

Stephen Schumacher, one of the seminarians living at Holy Infant this summer, is presen ng a conference on Sacred Music. The conference is informa onal--don't let lack of experience or ability keep you away!--and covers the history, theology, and prac ce of sacred music. Saturday, August 19 in Church, 8:45 a.m.

Stephen Ministry Introductory Workshop Offered At Holy Infant Saturday, September 30th 9a.m.-11 a.m. (Registra on begins at 8 a.m.)

This half-day workshop in the Upper Cafeteria consists of three sessions designed both to enhance par cipants’ caregiving skills and to help congrega ons explore ways to expand their caring ministry.

The workshop is sponsored by Stephen Ministries, the St. Louis-based Chris an training organiza on that has been providing con-grega ons with training and resources for Chris an caregiving since 1975. The workshop will be led by Mrs. Kathy Hollenbeck, a trained Stephen Minister and Stephen Leader who has been a member of the staff at the Stephen Ministries Center in St. Louis since 2012.

In the first session of the workshop, “Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief,” par cipants learn about the grief process—the stag-es of grief and how to minister to people in each of those stages. They’ll gain the skills and confidence to be er care for individuals who are grieving.

The second session provides an introduc on to the Stephen Series, a system of lay caring ministry through which congrega on leaders can equip members to provide one-to-one Chris an care to people in need. Since 1975, more than 12,000 congrega ons represen ng more than 170 denomina ons have implemented the Stephen Series.

The final session of the workshop explains “How to Care in a Dis nc vely Chris an Way.” Par cipants learn what makes Chris an caregiving unique and how they can use resources like prayer, blessings, and Scripture in their caring of others.

The cost of the workshop is $15 per person, but since Holy Infant is hos ng the workshop, our members can a end for no charge. Holy Infant will be forming a new training class in October. This is a great opportunity to learn about this caring ministry, led by a Stephen Leader from Stephen Ministry’s World Headquarters.

To register for this workshop please email [email protected]

To learn more about this exci ng opportunity, call Gene Bestgen (636) 527-5385 or Alberta McGilligan (636)399-6567.

2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the appari on of the Blessed Virgin Mary to 3 shepherd children in Fa ma, Portugal. Mary, Mother of God, appeared to the chil-dren six mes, every 13th of the month, May - October 1917. Hovering above the holm oak at the Cova on July 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fa ma told the three children, "Con nue to pray the Rosary every day in honor of the Lady of the Rosary to obtain the end of the war and peace for the

world, for only she alone can save it." Holy Infant’s Legion of Mary is helping you to celebrate, help the world, and gain in-dulgences to help souls. Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence to “the pious faithful who visit with devo on a statue of Our La-dy of Fa ma solemnly exposed for public venera on in any church, oratory or proper place during the days of the anni-versary of the appari ons, the 13th of each month from May to October ( the 2017 “venera on days”), and there devoutly par cipate in some celebra on or prayer in honor of the Vir-gin Mary.” For the plenary indulgence, one also goes to con-fession within 3 weeks, and on the venera on day, pray for the Pope and go to Communion. Our fourth opportunity will be Sunday, August 13th in the Holy Infant Eucharis c Adora on Chapel. A statue of our Lady of Fa ma will be enthroned for venera on that day. Right now, you can: * Mark your calendar with all the Fa ma “venera on days”, especially the next one, August 13th * Go to h p://www.ewtn.com/library/ANSWERS/PRIMINDU.HTM to read more about indulgences. * Pick up a free rosary and literature in the ves bule.

Please join us beginning in September for the 2017-18 season of Holy Infant's Book Club! Everyone that enjoys reading and follow up discussion of great books is encouraged to join us. We meet once a month to discuss that month's book, and then we move on to the next great selec on the following month. Some love the books, some don't. That's what makes for a great discussion. We meet as friends, respect other's opinions, and are exposed to some great authors throughout the year. We usually meet on the third Thursday of the month at 1:00 in the Holy Infant Room.
