Weekly ongoing programs at Morningside Nature Center,
running from September through May:
Barnyard Buddiesat the Living History Farm: Morningside
Nature Center has a farm, eeieeioh! On this
farm, youngsters and their parents can meet and greet
animals by helping staff with the afternoon feeding.
Feed-A-Frog-Fridays: Youngsters, with an adult, can
join a Morningside Nature Center animal caretaker for
amphibian and reptile feeding.
Living History Days: The Living History Farm comes to life
with staff interpreting day-to-day life on a rural Florida
farm. Sample biscuits, fresh butter and a slice of life from
1870!
Nature Operations Division Events: Native Plant Sales in
Spring and Fall | Jean Dorney Wildflower Walks | Ghost
Walk|Youth Fiddle & Open String~Band Contest at the Cane
Boil | Great Air Potato Roundup | Farm And Forest Festival

Gainesvilles premier nature park, Morningside Nature
Center, is one of the last remaining examples of fire-
dependent longleaf pine woodlands in the area. Strollalong a trail deep in the woods, walk through a cypress
dome, enjoy the rays of sunshine filtered by towering
longleaf pine trees, or step back in time over 130 years on
a ten-acre Living History Farm. Discover some of the best
bird watching in North Florida, observe butterflies busy at
wildflowers, and hear frogs and toads calling.
