The Arctic is a very cold place to live.
In winter, the arctic is covered in snow and the days are dark.
In summer, the snow melts and the sunshine stays out during the night.
Do you have a parka jacket with a hood?
The first people to make parkas were probably the Inuit who live in the arctic regions of Canada and Alaska.
These Inuit children look very snug and warm in their parkas.
Inuit parkas are usually made of animal fur and skin. It is important to keep warm in cold
weather.
This man is ice fishing. How many fish has he caught?
This Inuit family have been hunting for food.
Inuit people sometimes use dog sleds to travel when they go hunting.
Inuit rely on animals to help them. These dogs pull the sled.
The dogs are travelling across frozen water but running will keep them warm.
Inuit build igloos of hard snow.
This is where they live during their hunting trip.
When they are not hunting, they live in a small town.
Arctic animals have a heavy warm coat to keep them warm.

Seals, walruses and whales swim in the Arctic Ocean.
