NEW DELHI, Aug 22:
The National InvestigationAgency (NIA) is likely todeclare Sabir Khan Pathan,claimed by Delhi Police as anaccomplice of Liyakat Shah, aproclaimed offender as efforts
to arrest him have yieled noreults so far.
Also, an officer of eliteSpecial Cell of Delhi Policewould be called again for ques-tioning in connection with thearrest of Shah who was an ex-militant and returning toKashmir Valley under Jammuand Kashmir’s rehabilitationpolicy, official sources said
here.Shah was arrested by the
anti-terror Cell of Delhi Policeon March 20 at Saunali borderwhen he was crossing overwith his wife and children andthe police claimed he was aHizbul Mujahideen terroristwho had come to carry outattacks in the national capital.
However, after state Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah per-sonally intervened in the mat-ter, the matter was handed overto NIA. Shah got a bail on May17 and is at present in his homein North Kashmir.
The sources said efforts tonab Khan, who was alleged to
be the accomplice of Shahand supposed to have dumpedthe arms and ammunition inthe room, had not fructifiedso far and the probe agencywas now planning to declarehim as proclaimed offender.(PTI)
