Athlete Profile:

Invited onto the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Program (LEAP) 20112 and 2013for Paratriathlon/Para-cycling.

I took the decision to switch sports to para-cycling in 2013. I currently self-coach and self-fund all my competitions and struggle to be able to compete asfrequently as I need to in order to showcase my talent.

My focus at the moment is on gaining a place on the British Cycling Squadwith a view to competing in hand cycling in the Rio 2016 Paralympics. I waslucky to participate in an invitation only International Hand bike Race as partof Prudential Ride London on 3rd August, which was a prestigious eventorganized as part of the Olympic Legacy. I was nominated by British Cyclingto take part. I will be taking part next year.

In order to fulfill my ambition to represent GBR on the Para-cycling team forRio 2016, I need to compete in various competitions in Europe and abroadover the next three years. The annual cost of competing is considerable and Ineed to look for donations and sponsorship from various sources eachseason. I also require athlete testing such as VO2 Max, Lactate Threshold,Functional Power etc., to be done at Loughborough University, so that I cantailor my training more appropriately and measure my progress.

The European Hand cycle Circuit (EHC) is a series of 8 races in four countriesover the summer months in 2014. I also need to compete in at least four UCI

European World Cups to improve my world ranking. The European and UCIraces are the only avenue to improve my technical cycling ability, learn race

tactics and how to draft other women in my category, as there are so fewwomen competing in the UK.

I am currently looking for a major sponsor or sponsors to help with travel, equipment and athlete support expenses for 2014. I estimate that it will cost in

excess of £5,000 to compete in the entire EHC circuit of eight races, to covertransport, accommodation, entry fees, and equipment spares and repairs, witha further £2,500 to attend two UCI World Cups and two P1 competitions toimprove my world ranking. Support staff, such as Physio and Sports Massage,Nutritionist etc. would cost in the region of £2500 per year. This is in additionto the Athlete testing already mentioned, which is approximately £100 every2-3 months.

I have an idea to get a camper van for 2014, so that travelling with my handbike in Europe would be more cost effective and easier, rather than breakingmy bike down to travel by plane to each event.

In return for any sponsorship, I can offer updates to my progress andcompetition results throughout the year via an emailed newsletter, signedphotographs from competitions, a Twitter mention and follow, your companylogo on my cycling top (unfortunately not allowed on bike-UCI rules) orvan/car, a motivational talk/presentation to staff or at a corporate event,School assembly talk with hand bike and medals, or a Disability/DisabilitySport informal talk or chat.
