THE POPE’S GENERAL INTENTION

That all workers may receive respect and protection of their rights, and that the unemployed may receive the opportunity to contribute to the common good. PRAYER/REFLECTION (Flor McCarthy, SDB) PLANTED BY GOD Lord, you planted me on this earth. You fenced me around with the love of family and friends. Their care towered over me. In the shelter of this tower I grew in safety and peace. I put out early blossoms; I filled up with leaves. People had great hope for me. You had great hopes for me. But now the year of my life is passing. The harvest is approaching. What fruit have I to show? What if, after all this care, I had nothing to offer but sour grapes? May you, Lord, have mercy on me, and with your patient urging help me to produce the fruits of love. OCTOBER, MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY

Please join the Parish Family and pray the rosary during this month. If you are unable to participate in Church please pray at home. The more you pray the rosary and make frequent use of it you come to see how its meditations bring to mind the sweet fragrance not only of the Mother of God, but of Christ himself.

PRISONERS’ SUNDAY: 8th October Prisoners’ Sunday is the official day of prayer and action for prisoners and their dependants. It launches Prisons Week, an ecumenical campaign to pray for those affected by imprisonment across a number of Christian denominations. Prisoners’ Sunday is a time to reflect on how we as individuals, as a Church and as a community are serving those affected by imprisonment.

WHAT’S ON IN THE PARISH THIS WEEK?

The PRAYER GROUP meets weekly on THURSDAY at 2.30pm in Our Lady & St. Illtyd for Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Scripture Reading, Prayer and Intercessions. CHOIR PRACTICE on FRIDAY following the Service of the Word and Holy Communion
