How is the body organized?
The body is highly organized. It allows the
body to function as a fine-tuned machine! It always
starts from a smaller structure, combining to
create a larger structure.
1. Organelle
Substructure of a cell
It performs a specific function
Found inside the cell
2. Cell
Microscopic
Made up of organelles
All living things are made up of cells
3. TissueA group of cells working together form a tissue.
Ex: Muscle cells working together form muscle tissue, skin cells working together form skin tissue.
4. Organ One or more tissues working together to perform a specific function.
Ex. stomach, skin, liver
kidney lungs
5. Organ SystemTwo or more organs that work together to perform a specific process.Ex. Stomach, small intestine, large intestine all work together to form the digestive system.
Digestive system
6. Organism
When all organ systems work together and create a living thing
Ex. fungi, plants, animals

There are many different types of cells! They have a variety of sizes and shapes! Why is this?
Each type of cell carries out a different function
Ex. Muscle cells, nerve cells, sperm cells
