Masthead IdeasTune iN

Beat

Treble

The denotation behind ‘Tune iN’ to be part of one of my ideas to be my masthead because I want my target audience to have that feeling where they feel nostalgic of the good ol’ days such as featuring the legend of music, for example, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston etc. I want them to also feel that those legends will never be forgotten nor overlooked. The strapline will support this as the strapline will be ‘Tune in & rewind’ which what the magazine is all about.

The denotation behind ‘Beat’ is that I want my target audience to have a steady pulse of a certain song; also to have that rhythmic movement, or the speed which a piece music is played so for example if they go to the gym they want a new song to listen to and ‘Beat’ magazine will be the best option to find the upbeat type of music as ‘Beat’ magazine offers ‘The newest and realist’ (strapline) music.

The denotation behind ‘Treble’ is that the music's that will be featured in the magazine will have an upbeat to the music which will make my target audience buy the magazine especially targeting to teenagers as they want those type of music in clubs or house parties. The strapline that will support this masthead is ‘Feel your beat!’. The connotation behind this is that my target audience will already feel the beat within them by looking at the magazine.

Page 10: LO1 – Be able to produce pre-production materials for a planned original print media product

Font StylesI have chosen this font style specifically because it is bold which will make my music magazine stand out of other magazines. However, I could improve this font by making it a 3D effect, for example Mojo magazine, because I am inspired by their magazine and would like to have the same approach from their target audience whether I have met their criteria.

The reason why I have chosen this font style because it has a similar effect to the Mojo magazine such as the 3D effect. However, I could improve this font style by making the shadow effect darker to make it stand out but this could be hard to grab my target audience attention as it does not have that similar effect compare to the Mojo masthead.

I have chosen this font because of the style is different but however it is not similar to Mojo magazine so I may not use this font style as the font style has to be similar to the masthead that I am inspired to.

Production Plans• Release date: Monday 1st December• Beginning of production date: Monday 3rd November

The adjustments or changes that I had to me based on the feedback that was given is that I have to stick to the production plans; also making quick decisions on what shot type that is going to be used, who is going to be the cover star, contacting them etc.

Conclusion

In conclusion, LO1it is all about focusing on the pre-production of my magazine such as rough sketches, annotation of my final rough sketches, masthead ideas, font styles, other font styles that will be present throughout the magazine pages, pre-production materials (flat plans, draft articles, graphic layouts of front cover and double page spread), photography plans, prop list, confirmation letter for using the equipment and lastly the production plans; which will take you the step-by-step of what I have done so far. Moreover, the time of processing to make sure that I have done everything so there will be no errors for the next LO. Furthermore, it focuses more on the denotation and connotation why I have chosen the specific feature in my magazine and go on depth where the denotation comes in. I have done this so that I know what features goes where to save time.
