The performances will be Thursday and Friday, November 17 th and 18 th at 6:30 in the schools multi-purpose room. Admission is free but donations are welcome! Some loud noises in the play may disturb younger viewers. Gardiners Christmas Stroll is right around the corner on December 1 st . Unfortunately, the Chamber of Commerce will be closed due to construction of the new bathrooms and will not be able to participate. However, the Chamber will still be helping coordinate the event. If you are a business participating in the event, please send info to Zondra at [email protected] so that it can be published in this newsletter. Divisional Speech and Drama Meet Saturday, January 21st. Gardiner will be hosting approximately 300 students for the Divisional Speech and Drama meet this year. Those students and coaches will be looking for places to eat dinner Friday night and Saturday night. Some will also be looking for hotel rooms. If you are a restaurant or hotel owner/manager and would like more information, please contact me (Hali Kirby) at [email protected]. Also, those of you willing to judge, please contact me as well. Lots and lots of judges are needed. Thanks! The Hutterites will be in town this Friday, November 18th. Pick up turkeys and shop for other ingredients for your Thanksgiving dinner at the Baptist Church parking lot from noon-5pm. They will also have potatoes, canned goods, bread, rolls, carrots, blue hubbard squash, eggs & chickens. Mammoth Clinic will be closed from Wednesday 11/23 through Friday 11/25. Our doors will re-open on Monday 11/28 at 8:30am. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Join us for Gardiners 13 th Annual Turkey Trot. All are welcome to walk, trot, run, push strollers, bring dogs, etc. around the triangle to earn that Thanksgiving pie! Yellowstone Forever (formerly Yellowstone Association) will provide a warm place to meet with some drinks and doughnuts. So, come on out and meet at YF for the 10am start on Thanksgiving Day! Please bring a food donation for the Food Bank. Electric Peak Arts Council would like to thank everyone who came out to the Supaman show this week. Were getting ready for our next performance in just two weeks! The Yellowstoners will be performing on November 30 th and December 1 st and they are going to be great shows – not to be missed! Hear ye year ye! Gardiner Pharmacy will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Thursday the 24 th and Friday the 25 th but will re-open Monday the 28 th for regular busi- ness hours. Yellowstone Perk will also be closed Thanksgiving Day, but will reopen Friday the 25 th . Thank you all and enjoy this season to gather and give thanks. Please join the Bear Creek Council for a Holiday Party on Monday, December 5th, 5:30-9:00pm, at the Gardiner Community Center (210 Main Street). Silent auction, drinks, hor doevres and potluck supper. The annual Holiday Party is a time for residents of Gardiner and beyond to come together and celebrate our commu- nity and the holiday season. Free and open to everyone. Just bring yourselves. Bear Creek Council members provide the rest! The Gardiner Chamber of Commerce serves our community through developing local tourism while endorsing the stewardship of the Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Montana Facts & Trivia

The town of Ekalaka was named for the daughter of the famous Sioux chief, Sitting Bull. Fife is named after the type of wheat grown in the area or, as some locals contend, by Tommy Simpson

for his home in Scotland. Fishtail is named for either a Mr. Fishtail who lived in the area or as the area Indians prefer for some of

the peaks in the nearby Beartooth Mountain Range which look like the tail of a fish. The Yaak community is the most northwestern settlement in the state.

Lolo Hot Springs on Lolo Pass in 1965. Combination, Comet, Keystone, Black Pine, and

Pony are names of Montana ghost towns. Virginia City was founded in 1863 and is consid-

ered to be the most complete original town of its kind in the United States.

The most visited place in Montana is Glacier Na-tional Park, known as the crown jewel of the con-tinent. It lies along Montana's northern border and adjoins Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, forming the world's first International Peace Park.

The bitterroot is the official state flower.
