Color Considerations For Modular Concrete Products

Color VariationsAs in all natural materials, color in paving stones has inherent variations. Paver color isaffected by the variances in the raw materials, concrete mixture moisture content andclimatic conditions and other variations. Therefore, the colors shown are a p p ro x i m a t ere p resentations of Pavestone’s paver colors, but should not be expected to be an exactmatch of what will be delivered.

The Nature of EfflorescenceAnother cause of color variations in pavers may be the natural phenomenon calledefflorescence. Efflorescence, a deposit of white salts consisting of mostly calciumcarbonate, may appear as a white powder on the paver surface and in no way affectsthe structural integrity. This phenomenon occurs in all concrete and although it cannot becompletely prevented from occurring, efflorescence generally will weather off anddisappear over time or can be removed with cleaners at the job site.
