The town motto, “Where mountains touch rivers,” is fitting given that Confluence is surrounded by some of the highest ridges in Pennsylvania. Here you will discover a classic mid-mountain town complete with a town square and Victorian bandstand. A bike shop, local grocery store, café, library, and more surround the square. On the west side, along the Youghiogheny River, are a number of other venues for food, lodging, bike & raft rental, and antique shopping. Like many towns along the Great Allegheny Passage, Confluence’s growth coincided with the completion of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, but the town’s history certainly precedes industrialization. George Washington reached the confluence of the rivers in 1754 as he and his soldiers were on their way to the forks of the Ohio River. At the time, the Confluence Valley was called Turkeyfoot by natives and settlers because of the three-pronged formation that the rivers form in the valley. Use of the name continues today, so look for it around town. Wind & River Challenge Saturday, June 2 Bike ride benefiting the Salvation Army. WELCOME TO CONFLUENCE

Named for the confluence of the Casselman and Youghiogheny Rivers and Laurel Hill Creek, this charming valley village is a favorite stop

along the Great Allegheny Passage.
