Purity began operations in 1938 at a storefront on South Division Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1956 they moved to their current location on 28th Street in Wyoming, Michigan. Since then fourteen new store locations have been added throughout Michigan and northern Indiana. The three original partners sold the business to three employees in the mid 1960s one of which went on to buy out the other two. In 1980 Purity purchased Airway Oxygen, a distributor of home medical supplies and equipment. Today Airway has nineteen locations throughout Michigan and Indiana. Also in 1980 Purity began to manufacture and supply acetylene. Currently a third generation of family and employees has continued the tradition of building relationships by offering the highest value with the greatest integrity.
