Well, my year will soon be over and the new officers and board members will be taking over. We had a lot of fun this year with a few of us going to a regional meet, a national meet. A lot of cars came out for the Norfolk tour and the wiener roast in Blair. At the last meeting the mem-bership voted to support the Skills USA and Vintage Wheels car shows so many volunteers will be needed. Our banquet at Farmer Browns will be here soon. We

have several things planned with time to visit with old and new friends. I have a special surprise for everyone so if you haven’t signed up yet there is still time to send in your reser-vation to Janet. In closing, let’s hope for a mild spring so we can get the touring season started soon. See you soon and thank you all for the past year. Stay safe and healthy in 2019.

January 24 6:30PM

303 Fort Crook Rd N

Check out more of the menu at the link above. It looks like a lot of good food at reasonable prices.

Here are some reviews: “Fabulous comfort food that is fresh and authentic. No canned crap.” “Great food and great service”

The January Board meeting will be held from 2 to 4PM at the Sump Library in Papillion. Any member is welcome to attend, but please notify Esther Miller (the 2019 President) so she can plan for the number attending. If you would like to add an item to the agenda, please discuss that with Esther. The Sump Library is at 222 N Jefferson Street. The entrance is on the east side. Go in the main entrance, then turn left and go to the end of the hall.

Thanks to everyone who brought treats to the December meeting. We had quite a feast!

We won’t need treats for the January meeting—since we will be at the banquet. However, we will need volunteers for treats for the monthly meetings after that.

See you there!

Upcoming Events

Don’t forget to check your odometer!! It’s not too late Dave Miller is figuring out the mileage records for the year and will present awards at the banquet. If you haven’t ([email protected] or call 402-968-0789).

Weather-permitting Tour to Groundhog Day Parade in Unadilla, NE On February 2

John Leddy suggested this tour at the December meeting, but now he has to bow out because Daniel’s Pinewood Derby is the same day. But we can still go! Are we crazy? Maybe. But, if the roads are clear, the forecast favorable, and the temp not too low, it might be a fun early tour.

The Average temp in southern NE in February is in the 40s.

Unadilla is a small town—population about 300. They have celebrated Groundhog Day for several years with a parade and other events like a Quilt Show, craft Fair,

Church Dinner, etc. Unadilla Bill (the resident ground hog) makes an appearance on Main Street at

7AM to see if he sees his shadow. We won’t make it for that, but we should be able to make it for the Dinner and the 2PM parade,

plus possibly viewing a car collection belonging to one of the local residents. Tentative plans are to leave from the Millard Social Hall about 9:30 or 10AM.

Unadilla is about 40 miles from Millard Social Hall (10508 S 144th ST). If you are at all interested in this adventure, please sign up at the Banquet or con-tact Jeff Graves (402-332-9218, [email protected]). We will be touching base in the week before this event to see who is on board and iron out final details.

Plan ahead for our 2019 Shows: • Skills & Grilles Show at Gretna High: June 1 • Vintage Wheels at the Fort at Fort Omaha: August 18

Eat-out at the Mouth of the South on December 13

We had a nice mid-December eat-out at Mouth of the South, a restaurant that specializes in Cajun foods from Southern Louisiana. Most of us had ham-burgers or pulled pork, but a few adventurous mem-bers had Cajun food like Étouffée (crawfish stew)

and Jambalaya. Those attending were Bob & Janet Benton, Ed & Sue Dellinger, Don & Janet Graves with Great-granddaughter Arielle, Jeff & Tami Graves, Jerry Kotlik, and Jack & Kayla Sanford.

Meadowlark Name Tags are “required” at all general meetings. The penalty for not wearing one is a quarter, honking the horn, and announcing your name out loud. It is also nice to wear your name tag at any club event.

If you would like a new name tag, please notify the Membership Chairman (Don Graves, 402-453-7166). The rectangular ones shown at the left cost $10. We will be putting in an order after the banquet, so that would be a good time.

Active members are also given a bar every 5 years to show how many years they have been a member. Officers and board members also receive bars. If you have bars that you are not using because they have been replaced or are no longer accurate, PLEASE return them to the Membership Chairman.

Thanks to Howard Denker for giving the December Tech Talk on the subject of

the Tool Kit that folks who bought a new Model A received. Howard showed a complete kit for ‘31 Model As and some variations of tools during the Model A production years. You missed a good, informative Tech Talk if you were not there. If you would like to know more about Model A tool kits, you could ask Howard for some details or check out the Judging Standards book in the Club Library.
