A Message from the president....

What a great Christmas party! The evening at the Great Hall at Western University

was an evening to remember. With the unveiling of our new club banner, a fantastic

dinner provided by Great Hall Catering, wonderful performances by members of our

club, Cathie and Paul, and the excellent music on a fantastic floor, the evening was truly a success!

A very big thank you goes out to all of the volunteers that make an evening like the Christmas Gala an

evening to remember, we are truly thankful. I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone who has

volunteered throughout the year, in whatever capacity, big or small as we are a volunteer organization and

many hands makes light work. We sometimes forget how much work our volunteers do, and when I began to

think about it, it really does take a lot of planning and effort to run our club.

The work a volunteer does ranges from hosting practices at Woodland Heights Public School on Mondays,

and practices at Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre on Fridays. Volunteers can assist as a greeter at

the monthly dances, or offer their creative talents for the decorations at our regular dances or our special

dances. Volunteering also includes serving on the executive board as either a class representative, member at

large or one of the elected positions, to some smaller housekeeping items like surveying the membership as

to their collective wishes, or handling the club library and many other tasks I have forgotten that just seem to

happen. If you are interested in volunteering with us, you can contact any member of the board.

I would like to personally wish a you and your families a Merry Christmas and health and happiness in the

New Year.

Introducing more new directors...

Level 1 Representative:

Anu Pathria

Level 2 Representative:

Pete Klaver

Level 3 Representative:

Glenn Warren

These class representatives serve to liaise between the students of their respective levels and the

instructors and/or the board of directors. Do not hesitate to direct your questions or concerns to your

class representative so that your needs may be addressed.

I have been dancing since I was sixteen and I have been a

member of LBDC for three years. This is my first executive position with

the club. My favourite dances are cha cha and waltz. Other

hobbies and interests of mine are travel, art, sculpture, and heritage

building renovation.

I never danced in my life before but always wanted to learn a dance

form. Joined LBDC in Oct this year & began to take lessons from our

dedicated instructors - Horst & Janice. I believe, it is never too late &

there's no end to learning. Heartfelt thanks to Jason for introducing my

husband Harish & me to the club. Gradually, dancing is becoming a way

of my life.

Hobbies/Interests: Singing (Indian Classical Vocal), Listening to music,

Cooking, Interior Decoration, Fengshui - to name a few.

Members at large:

Scott MacDonald

Kathe Davidson

The members at large are appointed by the executive to assist as needed with the operation of the LBDC.

I am holding the member-at-large position on the board. This is my

second year on the board as last year I was class rep. I have been a

member of the LBDC for almost 10 years. I started dancing 10 years ago, I

seem to enjoy the Latin dances the most but my favorite is Tango. I like

traveling to new places and hope to have more time someday to do so.

I have loved dancing for as long as I can remember. It’s over 10 years ago

that Tom and I joined the LBDC. I served on the 2014 constitution review

committee, and now I am a board member. As the new editor of the

By-Line as well, I welcome suggestions. I teach, and I enjoy many other

interests of traveling, sailing, biking, skiing, reading, painting, and zumba!
