The programme takes place at Heythrop College, a small self-contained campus which is part of the University of London. The entrance is in a beautiful Kensington Square, near Kensington High Street underground station in zone 1. The campus itself is arranged around a lovely garden with an all-weather court for tennis, football and other games. It is a unique, private and secluded world in the centre of Kensington. The Centre Manager has the full support of the Frances King organization, with the main buildings only 10 minutes’ walk away.

TeachersOur teachers are all qualified to teach English and have been carefully selected for their experience and ability in teaching younger learners – they are friendly enthusiastic and caring, offering fun imaginative classes for all ages and abilities.

The programme■ 15 lessons a week of General English■ 5 lessons a week of one of these options:

Discover London, Fashion and Style or Sports Fan. Lessons include vocabulary sets, language skills practice and project work. Students prepare for their special outside visits in class.

■ Three workshops and visits per week related to the option

■ Other fun activities and excursions in afternoons and evenings

Accommodation and mealsStudents live on campus and are housed in single rooms. The residence is a multi-storey building and there are 10 students in single rooms per floor with a teacher resident on each floor. There is Internet access via students’ own laptops. Each room has a wash basin and students share bathrooms. All meals are taken on campus, but each floor also has a kitchen-living room with fridge, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery. There is a continental breakfast, and generous servings for lunch and dinner, with a vegetarian option.

Daily routineThe day starts with some light exercise, breakfast and a morning meeting to discuss plans for the day. Classes take place from 9.00-13.00. Lunch is from 13.00-14.00. There are afternoon activities until about 17.30 followed by quiet time, to do homework and keep in touch with family and friends. Dinner is from 18.30-19.30 and then there are evening activities on campus.

At the end of the course, everyone will receive a Frances King certifi cate stating the length of the course and language level achieved.

4. Activities

As well as the classes, workshops and visits related to the option, there is an action-packed activity programme.

Language practice activities: pronunciation and writing skills workshops

Guided walks: Regent’s Canal, Carnaby Street, Covent Garden, Changing of the Guard and Royal London, Harry Potter Walk, Southbank, West End and Oxford Street

Sports activities: tennis, football, baseball, basket ball and volley ball

Evening activities: talent contest, karaoke, Wii games, charades, board games, welcome party, student exhibition, barbeque and farewell party

Weekly excursion: Excursions take place in the London area where there is a wealth of attractions. Excursions may include a river trip to Greenwich, and bus or train to Hampton Court, Windsor or Brighton.
