LondonMail offers LGfL-served schools an advanced email service for use by pupils. The system is operated for LGfL by Microsoft Live@edu.
LondonMail is available as an inclusive subscription service (i.e. with no additional subscription costs) for pupils within London Grid-connected schools and LAs. Access to the service is via LGfL Unified Sign On (USO) accounts.
On logging in to a LondonMail account using Outlook Web Access, users will be provided with the core functionality of a Microsoft Exchange account, including email, a personal calendar/diary and a personal address book of contacts. When accessing the service with a PDA or other mobile device, users will receive an experience tailored by the application or the device.
Email messages, whether internal, inbound or outbound, sent to or from LondonMail accounts, will be scanned for viruses and spam, by the Microsoft Live@edu service.
LondonMail provides each user with 10GB of mailbox space. The maximum single email size supported is 20MB.
LondonMail account holders receive their own private address book and calendar.

To help protect younger or more vulnerable users, LondonMail includes an option known as SafeMail. This feature allows a mail administrator at the school to control down to a year-group level which types of internal and external user a student may exchange email with.
The LGfL LondonMail Helpdesk, available as part of the service from Atomwide on 020 82 55 55 55 (option 3), will provide support to LA and school nominated contacts to aid in the correct provisioning and configuration of accounts and account profiles.
