One year ago (Bremen, July 2011)
• stations: Effelsberg, Unterweilenbach, Tautenburg,
Nancay, Chilbolton
• data link: only three at a time
• long-baseline images of a few sources (LBA and HBA)
? including 0957+561
• images of the Crab n.+p. calibrated with long baselines
? low polarisation of pulsar ≈ 0.9%
• spying on airplanes
• localisation of lightning
• first correlated observations of Jupiter (low time res.)
O. Wucknitz 2012 2
Progress since then
• additional stations: Potsdam, Julich, Onsala
• network upgrade: can use all eight stations!
• first observation with 8 stations: October 2011
? long tracks of 3C123 (HBA and LBA)
? long track of 3C196 (LBA)
? short track of Crab/TauA (HBA), DE604 bad
• clock offset in Effelsberg (1µsec) corrected
• consolidation phase: convert ad hoc development
code into user tools, later pipeline
• identified and partly solved many technical problems

First full-resolution Jupiter observations
• L35624, 24/25 November 2011 23:30–01:45 UTC
• 61 subbands 18–30 MHz, 256 channels/SB (763 Hz)
• correlations
? 6 stations: DE602, FR606, RS106, RS307, SE607, UK608
? 1 sec integration time
• fly’s eye “raw voltages” with endless problems!
? integration time 1.3 msec
? only 3 stations: DE602, FR606, RS106
• nice bursts

Summary• significant progress (and frustration) in the last year
• eight stations available, sometimes even all of them
• man-power limited
• development lead by LBG
? active workers: Tobia Carozzi (Onsala), Adam Deller
(ASTRON), Anna Kapinska (Portsmouth), Ian Stewart
(Bonn), Olaf Wucknitz (Bonn)
• Crab: LBA image, polarisation going up again!
• 3C123 images (difficult!)
• Jupiter, high resolution in space and time
• standard tools plus AIPS (see second talk), tested in busy week
