LETTER FROM THE OWNER

Recently out of college, with the wisdom and life experience of college bachelors, my brother and I decided we were ready for home ownership. With a huge list of perceived must haves, and work commutes that went the exact opposite directions, we finally agreed on this house, a former model home in Longwood Knolls…. Despite our significant under estimation of the cost, time, and effort involved in renovations, we did a good job finding a home with great bones, layout, and neighborhood. My brother and I loved the large bedrooms, great floor plan, and especially the large downstairs Recreation Room. Assuming that one of us would keep the house, we continuously updated and renovated the house over the last five years. Renovations include the upstairs bathroom, the roof and soffits, the front siding, the kitchen, the master bath/closet, and finally the driveway last summer. While neither of us particularly enjoyed renovations, the end result was a beautiful home that fit our needs and was well worth the inconvenience. With the major renovations finally behind us, we were finally getting ready to kick back, when just like that, my brother had a career opportunity in Los Angeles, and shortly thereafter, my office relo-cated close to Baltimore. Sadly, it’s time for us to move on. With loss comes opportunity, and as sorry as we are that we have to leave, this is a great opportunity for somebody to get a home that has been renovated and is in great condition. We’ve been incredibly happy with the quality and results of the renovations and expect they will certainly take the burden off of the home’s future owners. The home location really couldn’t be better. The neighbors are kind and outgoing people; al-ways willing to share tools or home maintenance tips. The local schools are excellent. It is literally sur-rounded by shopping centers, grocery stores, and restaurants. The larger box stores and shopping malls are readily accessible within 15 minutes. In terms of commuting, there are also a lot of options. Each of us worked in construction, with our projects periodically changing. The location of the house really worked out with one of us commut-ing to downtown DC, Reston, VA, and Rockville, MD and the other one heading the other way to Quan-tico, VA, Andrews AFB, MD, and Lanham, MD. Local biking/walking paths surround the neighborhood providing easy access to Burke Lake, Mercer Lake, and South Run Park. The lake paths are particularly beautiful, right next to the water. While, my brother ran around both lakes in a single trip (yeah… he’s crazy), my girlfriend and I often enjoyed leisurely riding our bikes around one lake or the other. It was one of our favorite activities to do in the springtime through the fall. Life is short and filled with so many wonderful opportunities. Living in 9633 Shipwright Dr. has been a dream for us both. We will miss our life here, and our wonderful home, but we must go. We sin-cerely hope that you find as much joy as we did in this wonderful place and we wish you well in the process of looking for a home!
