On Tuesday, voters in the 46th District have a very important decision to make. Marcellus Shale dominates the political and economic landscape of our region, and the choices we make now will have far-reaching impacts for decades to come. When you go to vote on Tuesday, you deserve to know the facts about the candidates and their positions on natural gas drilling. Both candidates support drilling, but they have different ideas about what “responsible drilling” means. JESSE WHITE TOM CASCIOLA SUPPORTS a fair and reasonable severance tax on drillers in addition to the Local Impact Fee OPPOSES a severance tax on drillers Led the fight against Act 13, Tom Corbett’s “drill-anywhere” law, which tried to take away your right to determine how the land in your town is used. White fought this law in the Legislature and in the Supreme Court ― and WON Says he would be willing to REVISIT THE ISSUE of giving the state control over the location of drilling operations, stripping communities of the right to determine how their land is used FOUGHT to protect Marcellus Shale leaseholders from having post-production costs deducted from their royalty checks by writing legislation and working with statewide leaseholder groups ? STOOD UP for property owners by writing legislation to ban “forced pooling”, also known as “private eminent domain” ? EXPOSED problems with open air wastewater impoundments, also known as “frac ponds”, and has written legislation to ban their use in Pennsylvania REFUSED to take public action to address groundwater contamination concerns at a wastewater impoundment in Cecil Township while serving as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Believes in OPEN and TRANSPARENT discussions with the public about drilling issues, hosting numerous town hall meetings to seek constuituent input Met BEHIND CLOSED DOORS with drillers in a meeting that raised Sunshine Law concerns and was referred to the District Attorney Supports FULL DISCLOSURE of fracking chemicals that can make their way into our water supply; White wrote common-sense legislation to require the drillers to tell us what chemicals they use ?
