Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to

the full product?

Planning & preparation

I was indecisive on what to do for my title sequence so researched many other title sequences, this made me realise how important research was in the planning and preparation progress.

I researched my location as from my original coursework I learnt that every detail is important in order to make it look good- for example I didn’t really do anything to the lighting in my original coursework which made it look extremely unprofessional.

I realised that the plan we made for the preliminary task wasn’t attainable at the time so changed that. This taught me that drafting shots and practicing recording and angles are important when creating a media product .

Organisation of time

I think that I should have spent more time editing my coursework and spent more time sorting the lighting out.

However I think that it was suitable for me to spend as much time as I did on research in order for me to attain my media product I created.

Camera Skills

I used a variety of screen shots in my preliminary task which prepared me for ideas on what screenshots to use in my media product and my research showed me what screenshots to use in what situation.

Furthermore , watching professional title sequences also inspired me and made me aware of what shots to feature in my title sequence.

My preliminary task introduced me to the 180 degree rule and the rule of thirds which I used in my coursework.

Premier Pro skills

I learnt how to capture a video from a video camera onto the computer from my preliminary task in my original coursework and this is very important when it comes to editing! The software I used was Adobe OnLocation.

When it came to editing my video I used PremierPro. Because I used both of the software mentioned in my preliminary task I was prepared and comfortable using it for my media product coursework.

By redoing my coursework I am now familiar with the software and this has made me confident using it if I need or want to in the future.

What is the biggest thing that you have learnt from undertaking this

project? That the more I planned and drafted , the greater the quality of

my media product. If I didn’t plan or undertake any research I would not have got any inspiration for screenshots, mise-en-scene, lighting, costume and locations at all.

Research influenced my work and was a big part of the planning stage . I have learnt that research is extremely important when undertaking work for a media product.
