PRESENTATION NIGHT 2013 This year our Presentation night will be held on Tuesday 10th December Wallsend Callaghan College at 6.30pm. In preparation for this we need to have all the perpetual trophies returned to school ASAP. Thank you for your support.

VALUES Minmi Public School is committed to ensuring that its students are equipped with the social skills to help them mature into responsible citizens.

One of the strategies that we use to do this is to explicitly teach the following values. We do this by having a “Value of the Week,” that we refer to both in class and at our after lunch assemblies. We also reward students for displaying these values throughout the year. Please discuss our “Value of the Week” with your child to help reinforce their understanding.

Minmi’s “Values of the Week” for week 7 and 8: Week 7 Respect means valuing the feelings and safety of yourself and others and looking after, you, others and the property of yourself and others. Week 8 Co-operation means working together to get things done

Cherie P&C President CANTEEN NEWS We have a WONDERFUL new volunteer on alternate Fridays now, Sue Horton! Thank you! THANK YOU!! We are incredibly grateful to all our volunteers and hope they feel how valuable they really are. I would also like to thank Sissy Hollier for her donation of homegrown oranges and mandarins for our canteen, they are delicious! We are unable to purchase Orange/Mango fruit juice anymore from our supplier but we still have Orange/Passionfruit, Apple/Blackcurrant, Apple and Orange juice readily available for purchase for $1.40. Just a reminder to please write on your brown paper bags (that are available from the canteen if needed 50c for 10 bags) your child's full name, class, what they would like to order, amount of each item, total and if possible the correct change in their bag just to make the morning serving lines a lot easier and quicker for you and/or your children. If you have any queries, suggestions or would like to volunteer in the canteen please feel more than free to come and chat to me about anything anytime in the canteen either before/after school pick up or drop off :) It’s an absolute pleasure providing your gorgeous children with this service. Thank you Stace Canteen Supervisor

Thursday 22nd August 2013 Term 3- Week 6

UNIFORM SHOP NEWS Don’t forget for the month of August we have 10% off all stock. Our new sun safe bucket hats have been ordered ready for kindergarten 2014. So to make way for our new hat we have discounted our current school cap to $10.00. You will be able to wear the current school cap till the end of 2014. But once we have sold out of the current cap there will be no more ordered. The new bucket cap will be ready for the whole school to purchase, as of January 2014. This will then make our school a cancer council sun safe school. HELP NEEDED. If anyone is able to give 1hour of their time on a Thursday morning between 8.30 till 9.30am it would be greatly appreciated. As Lisa has a casual job now and is unable to help out on some Thursdays. Annette shares her time between the uniform shop and our school canteen. Leaving Cherie having to do 3 weeks out of 4, and with 2 small children it is hard. If we don’t manage to pick up extra help, we may be forced to close and open only 1 Thursday a fortnight . If you are able to help please contact me on 0412 372 106 for more information, or call into the uniform shop on a Thursday to have a look at what goes on. The uniform shop is open every Thursday morning between 8.30am til 9.15am. It is located on the veranda outside the year 1 classroom. A big thank you to my volunteers. You all do a great job. Natalie Chambers
