  • Foreword

Blessed readers, bear with us as we unfold themysteries of God. Be patient with our effort astogether we walk and talk with Jesus and the ser-vant-sons in heaven whose revelations we bear. Foras emissaries of their teaching, we must attempt tomake plain according to twentieth-century think-ing and beyond and theological modality a vastgnosis of the Lord that does and does not necessar-ily fit the mind-sets and mind-traps of the very onesfor whom his Lost Teaching is sent.

Above all, have patience with yourself, endureto the end of our treatise and pray fervently and with-out fear to the Holy Spirit to enlighten youboththrough and beyond the written word. These pagesare a garden path where you meet the Lord Jesus andthe masterful beings and intelligences who comprisethe cloud of witnesses to the Universal Christ, whose point of Light is also in ourselves.

In these four volumes of The Lost Teachings ofJesus series we bring you the most precious instruc-tion we have received for lifetimes from our GoodFriend and the Shepherd of our souls. While the

  • words and images may not be those Christ used twothousand years ago, you will find the heart of themessage he imparted on the road to Emmaus; atBethany with Mary, Martha and Lazarus; at meatwith sinners and publicans; to the multitudes on the desert, by the sea, and in the mountains; in thesynagogue at Nazareth; in the Temple at Jerusalem;and on the Mount of Transfiguration with Peter,James and Johnas well as the message he whis-pered in the ear of Paul.

You wont find two dozen lost parables with acast of sowers, servants, rich men, virgins and mus-tard seeds. But you will learn from our cast of Fords,Chevys, homegrown philosophers, our Pierre andour parrot and from the many portraits of life fromwhich Jesus has drawn to teach us the fine points ofthe Law.

You wont find verbatim the words and phrasesexpunged from the Gospels, but you will find the essential truths they contained as well as some of the Lords most precious secrets which we hereintranscribesome plain for all to see, some hiddenin enigma for riddle lovers and detectives to sleuthand solve. You may find yourself rereading thesevolumes as you carefully choose the missing piecesto fill in the mosaic of your inner life as you com-mune with the Master in the cloisters of your soul.

The chapters we set forth for you in the nameof Jesus Christ and in defense of every seeker for hisTruth contain the fundamentals of his Lost Teach-ings which he himself has taught us. Profound in

    xiv Foreword

  • their simplicity, when understood they lead to thecomplexities of the Law of every mans true naturein God.

The four books in this series consist of fourteenlectures delivered by Mark between 1965 and 1973,illuminated by the lessons Jesus has given us in dictations, sermons and letters over the past thirtyyears. The message that unfolds as the rose ofSharon is compiled from these as well as privateconversations with the Master. It is the Lords gift toyour soul, that you might keep his flame and notlose the way when the darkness of personal andplanetary karma covers the land and all else fails ofhuman institutions and nations and their armiesand armaments.

As he said to us, Though heaven and earthpass away, my Word shall live foreverin the heartsof those who are the spiritual survivors of earthsschoolroom. Go and find them and show them the Way!

Especially do we urge those who have nevercontacted the heart of Jesus teachings as we havepresented them in our ministry to read with newhope these chapters of the Saviours wisdom. Theyare gathered together for the dissolving of schism inthe body politic, for the furtherance of the spirit ofecumenismand for the healing of the diseases of the flesh and the mind, and of the souls anguishin its aloneness in time of trouble and mourning.

O world, you need this Teaching more thanyou know for that which is coming upon your soul

  • and the souls of your people in the days ahead. Mayyou take the little book and eat it up, enjoying thesweetness in the mouth, resisting not the bitternessin the belly, but understanding the necessity for thefull alchemy of the Word to work his work in you.

We are the two witnesses standing now, one oneither bank of Lifes great river. We preach his Ever-lasting Gospel and the hidden wisdom: for theLamb is comeand the mystery of God which wasnot to be finished till the days of the voice of the seventh angel.

The prophecy is fulfilled. That which was spokento the disciples in the upper room is being shoutedfrom the housetops. At last the path of discipleshipto which Jesus called his chosen does appear for allto see and know and enter in these end times of thePiscean agefor the Light of Aquarius dawns.

With our life we have given the Saviours dis-courses to your hearts keeping, fully assured byJesus himself that through these pages and your one-ness with his sacred heart, you may seek and find thekeys to the kingdom.

The Lord is waiting. Please take his gift, entrusted to us for you, before it is too late.

    Faithfully,

Servants of God in Jesus Christ

    xvi Foreword

  • These are the very things that God has revealedto us through the Spirit, for the Spirit reaches thedepths of everything, even the depths of God. Afterall, the depths of a man can only be known by hisown spirit, not by any other man, and in the sameway the depths of God can only be known by theSpirit of God.

Now instead of the spirit of the world, we have received the Spirit that comes from God, to teach usto understand the gifts that he has given us. Thereforewe teach, not in the way in which philosophy istaught, but in the way that the Spirit teaches us: weteach spiritual things spiritually.1

KAL-DESH:THE INTERMINGLING OF TIME AND SPACE

  • Kal-Desh:The Intermingling of Time and Space

We would speak about time, kala in the San-skrit, and space, desha in the Sanskrit,1 andof the intermingling of time and space. And wewould speak of it in terms of past history and thefuture, or that which is to be, and the fulfillmentof the cycles of life.

Every One of Us a TeacherFor, not too long ago we were sitting in a high

chair, drooling out our oatmeal upon our chin. Andnow we are here, quite a ways from that particularsorry state, and we are supposed to have a greaterknowledge and a higher concept of what life is allabout so that we can teach our childrenas that oldsong goes, Mother, teach thy children . . .

Every one of us is a teacher. But we some -times forget that we have this role to play. Wesometimes think of ourselves as someone who isthe victim of tyrantsas though life itself were atyrant, as though our teachers were tyrants, asthough everywhere we turned everything were in atyrannical state and we ought to rebel against it.2

  • Then we suddenly stop, and we begin torealize what I began to realize long ago: that themeanest teacher I ever had in schoolmy Latinteacherwas, in reality, the one who taught methe most.

We ought to ask ourselves this question: Dowe really want a sweet and beautiful personalitythat will pat us on the back and say, Yes, you havelearned all your lessons, Johnny. Mary, you knoweverything. Youre just wonderful! when in real-ity were down in the D class? Is that what we want?

Shouldnt we look up to those who may seemto us to be tyrants by reason of their diligence anddesire to chasten our souls, as God himself does?Shouldnt we look up to them as our most dedicatedinstructors, who teach us the very best of life thatsfree but whose precepts are meaningless to us un-less we accept them?

And so we rebel no more, but we welcome thechastening rod that speaks in the Lords name andsays to us, Whom I love, I chasten.3

Thinking in Terms of the Head and the HeartLet us stop for a moment, and let us begin to

think in terms of thought. Yes, think in terms ofthought. What is thought? We have heard of theancient Thoth, the Atlantean, the great masterThoth.4 And we come to realize, if we pause tothink upon the relationship of words, that thoughtand Thoth are perhaps onethat the word thoughtmay even have sprung from his name. But whether

    4 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • or not it did is not so important as the fact that weare endowed with the capacity to think.

Yet, this great think tank that we have here[pointing to the brain] and this great think tank thatwe have here [pointing to the heart] are not alwaysfunctioning together as they are supposed to. For,you see, man is supposed to think both with hishead and his heart. And what happens is that he sep-arates the heart and the head, and we find that theheart, expressing the feelings of man, leads the head.

And so, in almost every case where you aredealing with motivationfor example, in the fieldof salesmanshipand you want to sell someonesomething, you appeal to their head and you say,Well, this particular product is going to do you alot of good, but you dont get very enthusiasticabout it. And you cite some facts and figures andgraphs, and everyone looks unimpressed as thoughnothing has happened, and really nothing has.

And then, after a while you begin to get theidea. You get the message of the heart. You beginto wax enthusiastic. And in your enthusiasm youare creating an infectious feeling which is easilypicked up at the emotional level by anyone.

And what is emotion? It is Eenergyinmotion. You have created a feeling. And whereverthere is a feeling created, good or bad, the feelingwill lead the headand, in most people, it willwin every time.

So, if the husband is thinking with his headand the wife is feeling with her heart, the wife will

Thinking in Terms of the Head and the Heart 5

  • have her way. But if the reverse is true, strange as itmay seem, he will have his way. And this is alwaysthe case. Its the heart that leads.

But, in reality, it is not intended to be just thatway. We are supposed to learn to think with ourheart and govern our feelings so that we are notalways carried away by the tides of emotion. Butwhen we are able to feel with our head and thinkwith our heart and do both in both places, then wehave a great duality going for us and a masterfulsituation where we, if we will it so, can be in totalcommand of ourselves.

We are our own man or our own woman. Weare able to think the way God wants us to thinkto think with our head, to think with our heart, tofeel with our head and to feel with our heart. Forwe can learn to do this, as difficult as it may seem.

The Five Senses and Seven Chakras Reveal RealityNow, in connection with thought, I am going

to ask you to think with me as we begin to explorethe great sphere of reality that is made known to usthrough the avenues of our five senses.

Our five senses telegraph to our inner selfwhat is taking place. They reveal the world to us,but they reveal only a part of it. Therefore, unlesswe have the endowment of the quickened capac -ities of the higher senses, we cannot penetrate thetotality of the world within.

And so we come to the place where we aregoing to climb the thirty-three steps of the spinal

    6 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • ladder to the place of the skull, Golgotha, where theChrist is crucified between the two malefactors5the anterior and posterior lobes of the pituitary gland.

Now, you think about that for a moment. Andif you cant solve the mystery of it, then decide thatyoure going to search further until you can solvethe mystery of it, because it is filled with signifi-cance for each individual. And it correlates to theblossoming of the spiritual flowers on the spinalstalk. These are the great spiritual centers (chakras)culminating in the thousand-petaled lotus of light, right here at the crown of the head where the pul-sation of the crystal cord can be observed in thenewborn babe.

When the thousand-petaled lotus of lightopens up, it reveals the whole universe to man. There is absolutely nothing hidden from ones eyeswhen the crown chakra is opened, but only the fullpenetration of the inward man reaching out andperceiving all things in the light of just what thosethings in actuality are.

Now, fortunately or unfortunately, many peo-ple like to be very pragmatic. They like to think interms of results right now. And this, of course, canbe very good. It has its value. But sometimes it doesnot give a clear picture of what has just happenedto us or what is about to happen to us. Were inter-ested not in a bubble thats floating in a level thatis almost infinite in its horizontal plane, but we wantto know the relationship of this bubble to the plane,to the surface whose incline we are measuring.6

The Five Senses and Seven Chakras Reveal Reality 7

  • Similarly, unless we have some arbitrarymarkings upon the scale of our judgments, ourvalues will be warped because either we will seethrough the eyes of contemporary society or wewill readand read as other people readbutnever read to think beyond what other people arethinking. We will be achieving what is known asmediocrity.

I cannot believe that it is Gods will that man, endowed with his image, is intended to think interms of mediocrity. We are intended to thinkbig!to think gigantic thoughts but to tether it allto reality. And this reality has already been estab-lished for us. We are not in a world where realitydoes not exist.

There are those who have come to this planetand who have had the oatmeal drooling down theirchins just as we did, who today are spiritual Mas-tersmasters of themselves and of their destiny.Once they walked amongst us and today they arestill in contact with us.

If your spiritual centers are whirling withlightthose little transformers (seven chakras) thatGod has all wrapped up inside of youyou mayfeel the cosmic energy flowing through you whenin the presence of one of the Masters or whilelistening to their dictations on tape. It will passthrough you and youll know it.

If your centers are closed, you may not feelthe Master Jesus vibration, but youll still hear hiswords and benefit from his instruction. And youll

    8 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • understand some of it, I hope, and the great signif-icance of his Lost Teaching brought to our remem-brance in these times of testing.

Living in the Mist and in the CrystalSo now we come to the point of time, which

we will deal with first, this kalthis infinite cal-culation of the finite.

Because, you see, all we can ever do with apiece of string that represents all known history isbreak it up into segments. We call them years. Wetake this piece of string and we arbitrarily make ourmark on it. We say this is such and such a year, and this is such and such a year. Two thousandyears ago, Christ was born. We put that on the stringand we call it A.D., the year of our Lord.

Well, when we come to the end of the string,we come to the end of history today; then we takeanother string. We dont tie them together. We juststretch this one out in a line continuing in the samedirection because its forward moving. Our historyhas met our present, and the future is unknown.

Now we realize that we really dont know justwhat is going to happen because, as Kahlil Gibranin his book The Prophet says, Life, and all thatlives, is conceived in the mist and not in the crys-tal. And who knows but a crystal is mist indecay?7

So then, you see, there are some people whohave this little idea in their brains. They say tothemselves, Well, what I think is not so important,

Living in the Mist and in the Crystal 9

  • its what I do that counts. But Im going to tell youthat what you think is important, and what you dois also important. And Im going to show it to youby Kahlil Gibrans statement.

Let us take the man who thinks the evil thoughtof adultery. According to the scriptures, a man wholooks at a woman with lust in his heart has alreadycommitted adultery.8 Remember this now. Jesus saidit: if he thinks it in his heart, he has already com-mitted the actthat is to say, in his heart.

So, a man said to me one day, Well, it doesntmake any difference if I commit adultery, becauseIve already thought it and therefore Im committedto it. I wish to prove to you that this is where theman is wrong in his thinking.

We live in the mist and we live in the crystal. The mist is the state of thought wherein we beginthe thought processes that may or may not even-tuate in the crystal. When Judas Iscariot was think-ing that he was going to betray Christ, it was still inthe mist. But the Master read his thought and saidto him, That which thou doest, do quickly.9 Andhaving received the sop, he went out immediatelyand betrayed him.

Now, when he betrayed him, that was crystal -lization. The mist of thought had crystallized andit could not be changed. It was the unalterable act.His fantasy had become fact. It was a fait accom-pli. The moment the deed was done, it was history.Thought had passed through the nexus and by the lever of the will became the action indelibly

    10 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • stamped on akasha.* Karma. No matter what deed you contemplate, as

long as it is not crystallized into action, there isstill hope that you will avoid the karma of deedsthat will accrue to your life record only when theact is committed.

Wise is the man who does not allow himselfto fall into the pit of wrong thought in the firstplace. But if he find himself in wrong thought, wise is he who will quickly correct himself beforeit becomes a recorded deed in the second place. As the Master said, You cant help it if a bird landson your head, but you dont have to let him builda nest in your hair!

And thats the whole idea for all of us. Toexercise control over ourselves is to realize that welive in the mist of thought, which we must tetherto Truth and Righteousness before a momentumbecomes bigger than both of us and topples theenergies of both thought and feeling into words anddeeds we later regret.

When we come to the realm of thought crys-tallization, it is far better to watch our thoughtsbefore they manifest in the arena of action, becausethe karma (consequences) of thought is still not asgreat as the karma (consequences) of deeds. For thekarma of deeds affects the lives of other peoplemore physically and therefore often irrevocably;whereas with the karma of thought, though theeffect may be more psychological, it can be healed

Living in the Mist and in the Crystal 11

*akasha: primary substance which fills the whole of space

  • and sealed and the damage undone before it is toolate, as they saybefore the die is cast.

The fact is that transmutation is as a ruleeasier on the mental plane than on the physicalbut not always, as in the case of mental cruelty andemotional abuse. But then, these are also theresult of acts.

As long as we are dealing with just our ownprivate thoughtalthough it still may be error, often carrying a thought karma proportionate toits durationit can be pulled back, our desirepurified, and the plot sequence taken out of con-sciousness by our own free will and the correctapplication of cosmic law.

Now, its a wonderful thing that there is hopefor people after theyve erred. And its a wonderfulthing that theres hope for people before theyveerred. But I still think that an ounce of prevention,as my mother told me, is worth a pound of cure.Dont you?

Learning the Lessons of Our Past HistoryNow then, enough with the ordinary human

consciousness of just doing things. Lets look back-wards and forwards in history and go to the veryfoundations of our own souls evolution. We can goback to the hanging gardens of Babylon. We cansee the great tower of Babel. We can still perceive,in thought, Sodom and Gomorrah.

We can experience the past, as Ris Stevens

    12 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • did in the old amphitheater in Athens. While shewas singing Orpheos aria of lamentation at thefoot of the Acropolis, the scene bathed in moon-light, she lost all touch with reality and felt her-self in ancient Greece, mentally and physicallyliving a former life in which she had acted on thatvery stage. Later she wrote about the incident, saying she finished the aria as in a trance and fellprostrate on the body of Euridice. It took fiveminutes of thunderous applause to bring her backto the present.10

We have lived in the past and we have livedin the present. And we have also lived in the futurethat has become our past and our present. But ourtomorrows cannot be any better for us than ourtodays and our yesterdays unless we transcend bothand become the masters of our fate.

Since we have made our home in the past, thepast has its effect upon our lives. In fact, unless welearn the alchemy of change, our past becomes ourpresent and our future! And we may be its prisoner, and all we will have to look forward to in life arethe replays which we ourselves project upon thescreen of lifewhen we ought to cast ourselves innew and futuristic roles.

Thus, the present and the future can only bea clean white page if we clear our world of the causeswe ourselves set in motion yesterday. If we dont, assure as God made green apples, they will comehome to roost as todays or tomorrows Surprise!

Learning the Lessons of Our Past History 13

  • Yes, yesterdays karmic involvements producesideshows and side effects that have a magnetismall their own. Their force, or forcefield, can be felt;they have both weight and gravity. Call it astrologyor fate or what you will, the fact remains that all toooften we allow the effects of causes we and we alonecreated (and which we therefore are obliged to un-create) to deter us from center stage and the spot-light of our own I AM Presence, who expects us toperform wellboth in the mist and in the crystal.

Most of us like to think only in terms of thisparticular embodiment, this life. We like to thinkof our mother and our father and the old homesteadand the good old days. Some people in this room goback to the horse-and-buggy days, and some re-member the Model T and some the Model A. Some,of course, have a little different backgroundtheyonly remember television! But we find in the recordand the memory of the psyche that all of us go backsomewhere into the distant past.

And some of us can go back farther thanothers. We can go back to the ruins and the recordsof the Sumerian civilization beyond the pale ofcurrent Mideast crises. We can go back to the build-ing of the ancient pyramids and to the moment ofthe carving of the Sphinx.

We can go back through our soul memoriesto many countries and many climes; and therecordings stored in the unconscious, written in ourinward parts,11 as Jeremiah tells us, reveal to usmany things.

    14 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • And so, we can read and learn the lessons ofour own past history and see to it, if we will it so,that our history does not repeat itself by our neglect -fulness in studying the chemistry of our hearts andthe elements that make up our actions, reactions, and the unfortunate distractions that impel us bythe karma of desire from the highway of our God.

Some of us walked where Jesus walked. Someof us can literally remember Golgotha. Some of uscan remember other times and other places. We haveparticipated in various enterprises throughout his-tory. Some people here were in the War of the Roses. Some remember King Henry VIII. Some sailed theseas with Christopher Columbus. Others, of course, have been paupers. Some have been princes. Andsome have really been kings and queens.

We Are the Sole Authors of Our DestinyWe have been many things. And we have not

always been on top of the heap, nor have we alwaysbeen at the bottom. Sometimes weve been in themiddle. And sometimes weve been caught in be-tween. Weve been through lots of different situa-tions in our past lives. And our future will beexactly what we make it. In fact, the script is alreadywritten. Only we can unwrite it, for we are the soleauthors of our destiny.

This is why the Masters are so interested inour state of consciousness. They want us to be ableto probe all of the past, to learn its lessons dispas-sionately, and then to look to the future with hope

We Are the Sole Authors of Our Destiny 15

  • and joy born of the idea that God has placed thepen in our hands: We can rewrite the past uponthe pages of the future!

I think its a great tragedy that most of us justlive from day to day. I mean, we get up each dayand we say, I wonder just what this day is goingto bring forth, in time, for me. What is it going tobring forth?

Well, we say, I dont know.Isnt it a tragedy that we have so little govern -

ing power over our lives that we say we dont know?Especially when at subconscious levels we knowthe end from the beginning, because weve seenit all beforebefore we ever took embodiment inthis life.

Dont you think that when God said to man,Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earthand subdue it, take dominion over the creaturesof the sea, the air, and the earth!in other words,Rule the earth!dont you think he intendedhim to exercise control over himself and his envi-ronment through careful planning and conscien-tious strivingeven probing the mysteries of selfand science?

Its a great travesty of the Law that we have notavailed ourselves of the promises of self-masteryforeordained in the covenants and commandmentsof God. Why, we are not even masters enough of thefates to know, to be, and to determine what is goingto happen to us in a single day, any day, of our lives!Instead of making things happen, we just sit back

    16 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • and let the future decide itselfinstead of realizingthat we are our past, our present, and our future.

Therefore, no matter what we do, we aredeciding to be, to remain as we were, to appear, and to appear to change but to change not at alltoseem to be, but to be notto feel, taste, smell, andstill to see or not to see. Alas, the choices are infi-nite, but we are still finite and can only outpicturea few. Let them be wise in the mist so we will nothave to undo the crystalmolecule by molecule.

We Can Probe the Mystery of SelfMust we forever think the future is a great

mystery and that we can never pierce the veil anddivest the mystery of its mystery? Dear hearts, thefuture will only be the mystery we make it or themystery we unveil.

Well, we can probe the mystery of self, if wewant to. Through the Masters Teachings, throughspiritual insight, we can look ahead. And not onlycan we look ahead, but we can plan ahead. We canmake things happen.

There are two kinds of people: the kind whomake things happen and the kind who watch themhappen. Now, were interested in being able tomake things happen. Is this wrong? Does Godblame us for making things happen? On the con-trary, he blames us for just watching them happen.Because when we watch them happen, we are notparticipating at all in the constructivism that liesas a coiled spring within ourselves.

We Can Probe the Mystery of Self 17

  • Oh, you say, you dont have any power withinyourself. Well, Im here to assure you that if youfollow the true Teachings of Jesus taught by theAscended Masters, and you follow them longenough, the Teachings themselves will prove toyou beyond question that you do have the powerand the ultimate power to make things happen inyour world. And when you prove to yourself thatyou can do it, why then you will see that you cangovern your life from now on. And your future canbe tailor-made just the way you want it!

But, of course, people will always come upwith this question: Well, how will I want it? Andhow will I know how I want it? I dont even knowhow I want my life to be today, let alone tomorrowand the next day and the next.

But, you see, dear heart, you have alreadycreated your yesterdays, your todays, and yourtomorrows. And unless and until you get in thedrivers seat and become the charioteer in yourown race against karma, you are not going to befirst at the finish line. Your own human creationmay very well beat you to the punch!

The Problem of DesireWell, lets talk about giving someone a mil-

lion dollars. You give them a million dollars andtheyre overwhelmed with the gift, but they dontknow what to do with it. Of course, everybodysays, Well, I know what Id do if I had a milliondollars. And they can think of all kinds of things

    18 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • they would do with that money. But, you see, itisnt quite that easy.

Now, I cant speak from the experience ofhaving had someone give me a million dollars, butI have had people give me gifts in the course of mylife. And I have had the experience of walking intostores and really not knowing just how to spend acertain amount of money that I had in my pocketthat I thought I ought to spend.

But you know what the biggest problem was?It was the problem of so many wants, so manydesires that it became a question of: What shallI select that I can buy with this amount of money, because I dont have enough to buy everythingI see? What will I pick out? What can I buy?

And the ideas would come so thick and fast,it was like a blizzard. You know, youre in a snow-storm and youre batted from one side of the storeto the other. And in the end you go home with themoney in your pocketyet it was burning a holein your pocket when you came into the storeandyou say, Well, I guess Id rather have the moneythan anything, because you cant settle on anyone thing that you really want.

This shows that man has a real problem. Hisreal problem is that he needs to learn to school hisdesire, to master this chaotic condition of the mindwhere he cannot settle upon one particular thingthat he feels is most important in his life.

I think, then, that all of us should stop for awhile this business of just thinking randomly in

    The Problem of Desire 19

  • what we will call the stream of consciousness. Mostpeople think in the stream-of-consciousness mode. And do you know that the planetary stream of con-sciousness is muddied from the refuse of humanthought and feeling that has been dumped into itfrom all over the world?

Because of this pollution we have to learn toprotect our aura and our astral body against theimpinging negative thoughts of the worldthosearrows of outrageous fortune that beset Hamlet. We have to learn to upraise the shield of the mindin order to shut them out of our consciousness sothat we can build great positive passions for whatGod wants us to have for ourselves.

Otherwise, you see, we cannot even receivethe gifts that God has to give to us. Hes got allkinds of gifts to give to us and hes right ready tohand them to us now. But we cant receive themuntil we have purified our desires. Do you under -stand this?

The desire is important. But, you see, desire isa key which may be understood through the esotericinterpretation of the two syllables of the word:desire. De stands for your divinitythe Deity ofyour selfhoodin other words, your Mighty I AMPresence. And what is sire? It means lord, the termwhereby we address the Son of God. Put them to-gether and you get God and the Son of God:* Desire.

Another way of looking at this word and theco-creative power it conveys is to realize that Deity

    20 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

*or the Mighty I AM Presence and the Holy Christ Self

  • siresbegets or brings into beingthe Son of Godout of the depths of his own desiring.

And if you want to understand the science ofBeing, you should know that your I AM Presencethrough the Sireyour own beloved Christ Selfbestows upon you through the power of the spokenWord the same power to re-create yourself in theimage of Higher Consciousness by which you cameforth from Elohim in the beginning!

Let there be Light!12 This is the original fiat

of the LORD who made heaven and earth.Let there be Light!Say it now with determination. With the deep desiring of your heart. With the Peace-commanding presence

    of your Christ Self.

Let there be Light!Say it into the teeth of every problem

and temptation.Say it in your mind and in the most secret secrets

of your heart.Say it in your desires and in the musings

    of your soul.

Let there be Light!Say it for loved ones.Use this divine decree to heal the sick

to challenge evildoers and to bring orderout of the chaos of global crisis.

    The Problem of Desire 21

  • Speak it in the eye of Gods whirlwindand in the center of his fury andwhen elemental forces rampage in fire and flood.

Speak it on the shores of life,to your beloved and your childrenwhen they are happy and carefreeand when they are bowed downby the void of noncaring, noncreativity.

And when Darkness covers the landand the face of the earth is consumedwith war and plague and famine and death, say to the whole earth and to the Sun:Let there be Light!

Let there be Light!Speak it in the dark night of despair

and in the mornings light of joy.Speak it to thy God, who loves thee

and shall love thee evermore, who says to thee even in this moment of eternity:Let there be Light!

Give answer, O my soul.Tell Him thou hast heard. He longeth for thy confirmation . . .

    And there was Light!

Yes, it was desire and the spoken Word thatstruck the first note of cosmos, and it will be yourdesire as Gods desire in you yoked with the com-mand to Light that will strike the true chord ofyour identity.

    22 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • So, what have we got to do? We have got tolearn that we are acting creatively as God actscreatively, that we are co-creators with him of ourdestiny and that by purifying our thoughtstheoffspring of our mindswe will be siring a trueand noble lineage made in the image of our Christ. And then we will actually produce in our worldwhat we want to produce.

Yes, the thought that you create is the offspringof your mind. And the way you create it is the sameway that Leonardo da Vinci created. You have gotto learn how to create. And this requires the puri -fication of both the mind and the heart.

But first we must bring our desire and ourdesire body into alignment with the desire of God.We must study what Deity sires, what the Creatorcreates, and then pattern our designs after theheavenly patterns. We must study the lost Wordand pattern our speech after his speech, as it iswritten: The heavens declare the glory of God;and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Dayunto day uttereth speech, and night unto nightsheweth knowledge.*

De-signs are the Deitys signature on everycomponent of his creationevery leaf, flower andstar. And, do you know something? You also signyour name to your creationsjust like a famousdesignerbecause every thought and feeling, mo-tive and momentum contains the microscopic signet

    The Problem of Desire 23

*The heavens declare the glory of God, the vault of heaven proclaims hishandiwork; day discourses of it to day, night to night hands on the knowledge.Ps. 19:1, 2, Jerusalem Bible translation.

  • of your molecular and electronic blueprint. You cannever deny your creations, whether human or di-vine, just as you cannot stamp out your etchings inthe crystal unless you learn the alchemy of change.

The Violet Fire and the Creative FiatIts the violet fire! Youve got to get the violet

fireboth to create what you want and to uncre-ate what you dont want. And thats what Jesus andSaint Germain and El Morya sent us here to do.To teach you how to use the violet fire. And thatsexactly what were going to do.

But dont skip over first principles: The bodyshould be kept clean, because a clean body breedsclean thought. Whatever you feed the mind shouldbe glorious, should be miraculous, should be beau-tiful, should be wise, should be comforting tohumanity, should, as with scientific precision, pro-duce something good in the world.

Do you see how important it is that you graspthis thought? Because through this thought you canpurify your own concepts and then, you see, thisworld of time becomes a world where you can stepfrom the present into the space of the past.

And soon you can learn to move through therealm of ideation where ideas are being born andthen conveyed along the corridor of the mind, where they take on thought and feeling modes justbefore they thread the needle of the drive and theshuttle of action. You can learn the laws of spiri-tual alchemy to transmute by violet fire the base

    24 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • metals of your human consciousness into the re-fined gold of the divine.

Well, you may think that you cant change thepast. Because its the crystal. So, for the time beingstep over here into the mist and experiment withthe laws of change that can change the future.

It doesnt matter what you have been in thepasthow weak or worrisome youve been, howyouve frittered and failed, or what you have orhavent discovered. Im interested in awakeningwithin you the realization that the power of Godin yourself has every answer that you need for everyhuman problem.

I dont care what that problem is! God has theanswer. And the answer, of course, can best beconveyed if we go back to what Jesus actuallytaught and said to the inner circle of his disciplesand what hes saying to us today. For example, wehave illustrated here in symbolic form the violettransmuting flame [pointing to the violet flamesurrounding the lower figure in the Chart*) andsoon were going to be giving creative fiats calleddecrees with that violet flame.

If you can understand the Chart of Your RealSelf, you can understand the Almighty One indi-vidualized and personified in your Beloved I AMPresence. You can understand its relationship tothe Christ of your being, the one anointed with theLight of the Son of God. And you can understand

The Violet Fire and the Creative Fiat 25

*See p. 111. For more information on the violet flame, see The Violet Flamefor God-Realization in Lost Teachings on Finding God Within.

  • the relationship of your soul (which, while inembodiment, occupies the relative position of thelower figure) to your Higher Self and the I AMTHAT I AM.

So Im just about ready to give you as com-plete and thorough an understanding of that wholekingdom of God within you as youll get anywhere. And when I do youll be as thrilled as the day youwere born in God. Because itll put you in that goposition to be what you were and what you still are:a co-creator with God.

So hang on to your hats because the mysteriesof God are so wonderful theyll just blow away allyour old thinking capsand not only you, but yourmind and your thought/feeling modes will be trulyborn again in the encounter with the UniversalChrist.

The Human Animal Re-Creates HimselfRobert Louis Stevenson said, The world is so

full of a number of things, Im sure we should allbe as happy as kings.13 But we arent, are we?

Look around you on the street as people walkup and down. Park your car sometimeor parkyour carcass in your carand as you sit there, justlook at the peoples faces. And tell me if you dontthink thats entertaining.

Why, I remember that in Sutton, Nebraska, one time during World War II, I went down to themain street of the town, and as I walked down thestreet in my military uniform, everybody in town

    26 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • who happened to be parked along the street waslooking at me. Now, I wasnt just embarrassed orself-consciousthey actually were looking.

So I decided to get into one of the cars andsit there, too. And so I sat there, and as I was sitting inone of these cars looking at the people, I took noteof the faces of the people coming by. And I realizedthat this was really a very entertaining situation. Itwas a substitute for going to the movies. I couldstudy the lines and expressions of their faces, readthe records of their past livesand of this lifeand learn why people do the things they do.

Then after a while, the lookers-on went intothe restaurant. They had a cup of coffee and somesandwiches, and they relaxed a little bit after theydhad their entertainment.

Well, its really interesting when you stop andthink of just how people function. The humananimal has become just thatan animal in the zooon exhibit. Because no higher image has been setbefore him as a goal or standard. So he unknow-ingly re-creates himself daily after the image of theearthly creature.

I cannot believe that Almighty God, whoframed this universe and made this beautiful earthand all the stars and planets out in space, everintended the creation that he put here to takedominion over this planet to function the way theyare functioning today. In fact, I dont guess at it:I know that theyre not supposed to be the kind ofpeople they are today.

The Human Animal Re-Creates Himself 27

  • Were not supposed to have war. Were notsupposed to have human greed. Were not sup-posed to have unkindness between people. Werenot supposed to have bad motives, were supposedto have good motives. And were supposed to havegood movies instead of bad ones coming out ofHollywood.

But in many cases we dont have either goodmotives or good movies! And as a result, we oftendont have either good messages or good momen-tums in the media as a positive creative force insociety. And this, too, is our responsibility. For themist and the crystal are all right there on filmpassing to the frames of consciousness that thenframe the actions of our lives.

Wherever man is, man creates. And the man-ifestation is the projection of someones self uponthe minds of other selfsor elfs, as the case maybe. And failure is everywhere around us, but thetrick is we must much more abound and surroundour defeats with the good feats of our faith and thefeets of Victorys legions marching!

Of course, many more people love the Beatlesthan love Christso the Beatles tell us. But some-how or other, I dont believe that. Because I knowI dont love the Beatles. I may love their souls, butI certainly dont love the Beatles. Nor do I love theirphonograph records.

And I dont love to stick a hypodermic needlein my arm in order to give me a kick! In fact, allI have to do is look up and I already have my kick

    28 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • for the day and for all the days to come. Because ifyou look up at your Presenceonce youve learnedto look up to your God Presenceand realize thatthat is the only part of yourself that is absolutely real, then youre going to look back and youre going tosay, Well, I guess when I was a baby I hadnt yetrealized all that God wanted me to bethat oat-meal again and the toodle that comes toddling along.

By gosh, we needed some support in thosedays or we fell flat on our faces! And then we hadto learn to take our little hands and put them onthe desk and take our little fingers and learn to holda pencil and write. Then we had to take the beat-ings in the schoolyard that many of the childrentake. Then we had to go through the fear of abeating at home if the report card wasnt up to thestandards that Father and Mother thought it shouldbe! And all kinds of experiences.

We were exposed to theft, where people triedto induce us to steal in the dime stores. We wereexposed to pornographic pictures and drug para-phernalia. Weve had all kinds of struggles towardmorality, toward decency, toward God. We live ina time when everybodys pulled this way and thentheyre pulled that way. And sometimes peopledont know which way to go.

Some people have had no experience in theChurch. Some people have had no experiencewith God. Other people have had a lot of inter-esting experiences with Godenough so thattheyre turned off by the Church or else theyve

The Human Animal Re-Creates Himself 29

  • been burned off. And they dont exactly like theidea of some of the pastors trying to tell them ifthey dont be good, theyre going to go to Hadesand burn forever on some kind of a spitroastedlike a turkey on Thanksgiving Day!

I cant accept this idea because I know thatGod doesnt intend to do this to anybodysimplybecause, as a father, I wouldnt do it to my ownchildren.14 And Im sure that Im not better thanGod, you see.

The Second Coming of ChristWeve talked a little about time and the stream

of time and ourselves floating down the stream, likethe bright colored leaves of autumn, coursingthrough our destiny. And we have said that we aremoved by a power higher than our own that wecan harness to chart our own compass in life andbe the captains of our shipsinstead of chips ofwood floating as flotsam and jetsam eventually tobe submerged by the stream of our own karmiccrystals.

Now, Id like to talk briefly about space. Wealways think of space in terms of the great vastnessthat rolls before the eye in the mountains or at theseashore or on the open plains of the West. If youtake a trip across America by car, youll have someidea of just how big this country is. And then, if yougo across it in a jetfrom New York to Californiayoull seem to be annihilating space by speed.

And when you annihilate space by speed, you

    30 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • also experience the annihilation of time. This isquite an experience in physics and mathematics. If we were to take off in a spaceship from planetearth and go to some star so many light-years awayin such and such a period of time, transcendingthe speed of light and then come backeventhough, lets say, only five years had elapsed for us,by the time we got back to earth, all the people wehad ever known would be dead, because a hun-dred years would have passed.

This is a bit of a ridiculous picture, but never -theless a true one, which gives us something tothink about in terms of the Second Coming ofChrist. People say, Well, Christ is coming backto this earth again. Well, I hope so. But they thinkof it in this way: They say that a cloud is coming, and its coming out of the East. But they dont evenknow what the cloud is or what the East is.

But they say its coming out of the East andits going to be somewhere up in the Eastern skyand Christ is coming in that cloud. And then allthe people in the world that are now alive are goingto be able to see him.15 But if you know anythingabout logistics and the cramming of people intospace, you know that if you were standing on topof the Washington Monument and you had all thepeople who live in the District of Columbia gath-ered around you on the ground, they couldnt seeyou from the periphery of that group nor could theysee you from below. They wouldnt see you andyou wouldnt see them.

The Second Coming of Christ 31

  • So you have to begin to understand that manyof the scriptural references are significant only interms of the individualyou and I and our per-sonal relationship with God and his Christ. Its amatter of our realization of what we read and whatwe run withwhat we know and what we are.

Do you think for one minute that if you hadascended with Jesus from Bethanys hill (if youdbeen standing right beside him and youd bothgone up together) that youd be dead now? Ofcourse not! And neither is he. And if you had beenstanding there and he had ascended and you didnt, hed still be alive, the Ascended Master, and youdstill be alive, the unascended disciplewonderingwhy you didnt make it when he did. And so hereyou are two thousand years later determined to findout how he did it so you can do it, too. Well, Imhere to tell you tonight that youve come to the rightplace.

Jesus said, I am alive forevermore, and havethe keys of hell and of death.16 The Master is hereto give you the keys to time and space and toeternal Life.

We have to understand, then, that the SecondComing of Christ does not have to occur in thephysical sense of him floating in on a big whitecloudand everybody down here looks up andthey see him like they would the Hindenburgdirigible floating through space.

We have to understand that the Second Com-ing of Christ is the specific event that occurs

    32 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • because the hearts of men have prepared themselvesto receive him in all generationsnot only in thisone but in all generations. Otherwise the EverlastingGospel could not be preached. Because Christ mustfirst come in your hearts. Because if Christ had notfirst come in your heartand this is the real SecondComingthen you could not understand the Ever-lasting Gospel even if you heard it preached.17

How could he preach to you the EverlastingGospel if hed come a hundred years ago and wewere living now? If Christ had come a hundredyears ago in time and were living now, wherewould we stand thenif hed come and gone? Orif he was still here ruling everything, supposedly,as they sometimes think of it? Well then, of coursepeople wouldnt have any free will, would theyif he ruled it all? If he made them do exactly whathe wanted them to do, he would be taking theirfree will away from them.

The solution to all of this is the Truth that theFirst Coming of Christ is in the exemplar, the sonof man Jesus, who fully expressed the Light and wasthe Word incarnate, and that the Second Comingis in you. This glorious event takes place when theSon of God comes to live and reign in your heartand mind and soul and templebecause you haveprepared him room.

When this planet achieves its immortal per-fection, it will be because man has accepted thefiat of Almighty God, because man has recognizedthe great creative potential that is inside of him

The Second Coming of Christ 33

  • and is beginning to exercise it. As he begins toexercise that spiritual prerogative, then, you see,he achieves greatness.

And in that state of mind or frame of reference,he sees Christ within him, Christ above him, andChrist all around him. And he experiences theSecond Coming of Christ into his templetheFirst Coming, of course, being his original creationin the beginning when Christ was formed in himand he was formed in Christ.

But that doesnt mean the Bible prophecieswont come true. The prophecies are, in fact, justlike Jesus himselfthe same yesterday and todayand forever.18 They are coming true in theEternal Nowwhenever you are ready. For youare also the creator of your own time and space.

And when you look at your beloved Christ Selfdepicted on the Chart, if you so desire youll alsosee him in your minds eye as he iscoming intoyour heart and mind in the clouds of heavenlyconsciousness. And when you experience this mys-tery in your being, your heart and mind will feeland know at once his power and great glory. (TheSecond Coming of Jesus Christ is likewise glorifiedin the coming of the Ascended Master Jesus Christas he delivers his Everlasting Gospel in the fullpower of the spoken Word through his Messengers.)

Well, once you experience his Second Com-ing in this manner and you meet me somewhereon the highway of Life between time and spaceand eternity, and I ask you when is Christs Second

    34 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • Coming, do you know what your answer will be?Why, youll say to me, He never, ever went awayand he never came backhes always beenthesame Christ with meyesterday, today, and forever. It is I who went away and I who have come back.

And then youll realize what you just said andyoull know that even so, your own comings andgoings in and out of Gods kingdom and in and outof embodiment have also been relativeonly realin time and space. And when the eternal Mindwithin you gets through devouring your karmiccycles in time and space, why then youll know thatthe Real You never left Home!

But dont get ahead of yourself on this evolu-tionary string. Because before you realize all of this, youre going to have to thread the eye of the needlewith that Gemini mind of God which Morya speaksabout to his chelas, and which the Master, blesshis heart, has through many lifetimes truly become.

This is the mind that leads to that spiritualgreatness which, because it is true mastery, is out-pictured through and tethered to the physical formand consciousness. This type of greatness that isnot of this world, but comes from above and blessesthat which is beneath, is brought forth from pre-vious lives and other spheres of soul experience.

Now, Rabindranath Tagore achieved a certaingreatness in the field of poetry. We have had manygreat poets in the world. Weve had many greatsculptors. Weve had great teachers. Weve hadgreat doctors. Weve had great avatars. Mighty souls

The Second Coming of Christ 35

  • have brought Truth to humanity and awakened thepeople. But, my goodness, none of them have beenable to save the world.

Tagore cant save the world. I cant save theworld. You cant save the world. In the end, eachindividualand Im saying this to the little childrenwho are herehas to take the gift that God hasgiven us (the gift of Life, first of all) and reach outin time and space and realize that were natives ofeternity, that were here in this universe, were inthis mighty soundless sound streamfor a reason.

Were in it, and weve got to listen to it andvibrate with the cosmic sound. Weve got to vibratewith the Cosmic Logos, the lost Word. Weve gotto let the Word begin to move in our lives.

And when that Word moves, we will be movedby Gods intent. And when we are, we will learnhow to control our thoughts. Because the control-ling thought of the Mind of God will be our ex-ample. But it will be neither the controller nor thecomptroller, because we will be in command of ourthought by free will and by our individual exerciseof some facet of the Great Thought of God, whereall the desiring and the siring of the creation began.

Because, in the final analysis, its the God-control we allow in our lives that is going to savethe worldone times one times the One. Inkal/desh it is the individual and his individualiza-tion of the God flame that provides the only keyto unlock our eternality. The flame, the One, theGod-control and you.

    36 CHAPTER 1 KAL-DESH

  • The Ancient Brotherhoods and the Fiat of OrderIf you cant control your thoughts, if your

thoughts are wandering around like will-o-the-wisps on a swamp wherever they happen to go,nothing will really be happening at all exceptchaos. And chaos is the illusion that something ishappening, when actually nothing is happeningthats real in the Mind of God.

So when you think somethings happeningwhen its notlike on a psychedelic trip into theastral planeyou are also a part of that illusionwhich is the definition of chaos. Tis then thatTiamat, the great dragon of chaos,19 is eating us up,devouring us.

Unless were devouring Godassimilating hisThought and his Mind as Jesus taught, Except yeeat the flesh of the son of man [who is the Son ofGod incarnate] and drink his blood, ye have nolife in you20we ourselves will be eaten up byforces of the anti-Self beyond our control, that is,our control of kal and desh.

And God is not glorified in the Tiamat sce-nario because he cannot be glorified in chaos.Because God is order. And man is order. And thetwain are made one in the glory of the universalOrder of Lights perfection.

And this is why the ancient Brotherhoodsestab lished the fiat of order. They established thefiat of order because only by obedience to the Lawof the One and by order and by a quickening inconsciousness can man achieve the brilliance of the

The Ancient Brotherhoods and the Fiat of Order 37

  • Mind of God in his own mind. And when he does, there are changes that he will work in the worldboth in and through and beyond time and space.

This is the sacred fire that has been foreverand forever central to the th-r-r-one of God. AndI said it purposely like the old Scotsman, th-r-r-one,because I wanted to illustrate the three-in-one ofthe threefold flameof Power, Wisdom, and Lovein man: the three-in-one consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you see, focusingthrough the body, the mind, and the soul.

When we understand these parallel triuneaspects according to the law of the equilateral tri-angle and we put our understanding into practiceby obedience to Gods laws, we can see that byvisualizing ourselves working with the great hier-archies of Lightangels, archangels, Elohim andelemental builders of form (whose offices of cosmicservice were established long before we ever knewwho we were)we are going to have extraordinaryexperiences like the ancient Masters used to have.

We will not be just ordinary people. We will bethe sort of peoplebelieve this or notthat couldstand here and disappear right in front of our eyes.Well be people that, in the body or out of the body, could go to the ancient templesin Egypt and inthe fastnesses of the Himalayas, beneath the seasand under the polar caps or in the center of theearth, wherever there are retreats of the Great WhiteBrotherhoodand hear the great mystic songs of theMasters and the music of the spheres. We will be

  • able to absorb the Light of eternity right here in time. And we will be able to enjoy ourselves a

thousand times more, a million times more, infi-nitely more than we ever possibly could in this ratrace we call human life, which has been made arat race because everybody is trying to rush aroundin their horseless chariots. Running around with, hopefully, two lights and a taillight onmaybe twotaillightsand a little aerial sticking up, listeningto some radio station thats putting out acid rockor classical rock or punk rock or country Westernrock or just plain old rock n roll.

Its all the same because it all takes you to thesame placethe place where you really dont wantto go if you know whats good for you. But then,in time and space where everythings relative, or sothey say, most people dont know whats good forthem. And they dont know because their teachershavent taught them.

The preachers havent opened their under-standing to the true meaning of the scriptures ofLife written in our hearts and in our memories andin the akashic records that reveal Christ and hisdisciples conversing with the adepts in the Hima -layas, both listening and demonstrating the Word, that reveal the ancient Masters and their circles ofdevotees sitting beneath the Tree of Life in the Gar-den of God. And thus the shepherds in every fieldhave not fed their sheep with sufficient Christ-loveto satiate their spirits and melt their self-images ofworthlessness frozen in time and space.

  • Chapter One KAL-DESH: THE INTERMINGLINGOF TIME AND SPACE1. When Mark Prophet delivered this lecture, he used the

Hindi pronunciation of the words kal and desh (from the Sanskrit kala and desha) in which the final a of both wordsis silent. The alternate spelling without the final a as writ-ten in the title retains this pronunciation and vibrationfor the reader of the word.

    2. Rebellion, which often begins to manifest at the age ofpuberty, is in reality a rebellion against returning karma. In most cases, the individuals karma descends for the firsttime at age 12 and he is forced to deal with the effects ofcauses he has set in motion in past lifetimes. The onlyreprieve in the face of the relentless law of karma that weface from puberty on is the grace of Christ when we receive him as our personal Saviour and Teacher in placeof the impersonal Law. The confirmation of the child inthe Law of the One at age 1214 is for the sealing of thesoul against the day of reckoning with his karma, and forthe anointing of the child with the responsibilities ofadulthood. This initiationcommemorating Jesus com-ing of age, when he discoursed with the doctors in thetemple (his final exam), and his going forth to the East inpreparation for his missionis for the confirming of theLaw by understanding, by teaching, and by action andthe dedication of the child as a defender of the faith. Bydeveloping a deep commitment to defend the Law, heis thus better prepared to face the onslaught of his ownkarma and the temptations that come during adoles-cenceusing the pure energies of life flowing throughhim in devotion to God.

  • music and musical instruments. He is usually depictedas counselor and friend of the Egyptian rulers Osiris andHorus, the scribe of the kingdom and amanuensis of thegods. Succeeding Horus to the throne, Thoth is said tohave reigned for over three thousand years as a modelruler, then to have taken his place among the gods asguardian of the moon, patron of history, herald, scribe, and keeper of the divine archives. In addition, he is therecorder of the judgment who weighs the hearts of the de -ceased and reports the verdict before Osiris. Thoth is oftenportrayed as an ibis (a bird related to a heron with a longdownwardly curved bill) or an ibis-headed man; the exactsignificance of this symbology has never been discovered.

Archaeologist James Churchward traces Thoth backto the days of Atlantis using information he claims to havedeciphered from ancient tablets discovered in India and Mexico, confirmed by more than fifty years of his ownresearch: The first we hear about the religion of Egypt is where an ancient record states that about 16,000 yearsago Thoth, the son of an Atlantean Priest, planted theEgyptian colony at the mouth of the Nile, and at Sais onthe banks of the Nile built a temple and taught the Osirianreligion. . . . Egypt was a sub-colony of the Motherland[Lemuria] under direct control of the colonial empireAtlantis (The Sacred Symbols of Mu [1933; PaperbackLibrary, 1968], pp. 197, 199).

The Greeks identified Thoth with their god Hermes(the messenger of the gods, whom the Romans associatedwith Mercury) and with Hermes Trismegistus (meaningthe thrice greatest Hermes), author of sacred writingsand alchemical and astrological works. On the famousRosetta stone, inscribed by priests of Ptolemy V (d. 180B.C.), Hermes is called the great-great, or twice great.Hargrave Jennings wrote in his introduction to one of theextant works of Hermes, The Divine Pymander: Hermeswas called by the Egyptians TAT, TAUT, THOTH. It is concluded that, because of his learning and address, andin wonder at his profound skill in the arts and sciences, that the people gave him the name of TRISMEGISTUS, or

    282 Notes to Page 4

  • the THRICE GREAT.. . . Some have been so fanciful asto make him one with ADAM, as well as Enoch, Canaan, and the patriarch Joseph. Perhapsin spite of all theforegoing exaggerations, which are always the lot of verygreat and highly distinguished men, who became deifiedin after-timesthe most probable judgment to be formedconcerning him is, that he was some person of superiorgenius, who, before the time of Moses, had invented useful arts, and taught the first rudiments of science; andwho caused his instructions to be engraved in emblem-atical figures (hieroglyphics), upon tables or columns ofstone (obelisks), which he dispersed over the country, forthe purpose of enlightening the people, and of fixing theworship of the gods. . . .

Another Thoth, or Hermes, is said to have lived ata later period. He was equally celebrated with the former, and to him is particularly appropriated, by some, the name of Trismegistus. According to Manetho [an Egyp -tian priest and historian c. 300 B.C.], he [this secondThoth] translated from engraved tables of stone, whichhad been buried in the earth, the sacred characters of thefirst Hermes, and wrote the explanation of them in books, which were deposited in the Egyptian temples. The sameauthor calls him the son of Agathodaemon; and adds thatto him are ascribed the restoration of the wisdom taughtby the first Hermes, and the revival of geometry, arithme -tic and the arts among the Egyptians, after they had beenlong lost or neglected. . . . He is said to have written a verylarge number of books, as commentaries upon the tablesof the first Hermes, which treated of universal principles,of the nature of the universe, and of the soul of man; ofthe governing of the world by the movements of the stars(otherwise in astrology); of the Divine Light, and of itsshadow. . . (The Divine Pymander of Hermes MercuriusTrismegistus, trans. Dr. Everard [1650; San Diego: Wiz-ards Bookshelf, 1978], pp. iii, iv, v).

Manetho said Hermes wrote 36,525 books and the Neoplatonic philosopher Iamblichus (d. c. 330) setsthe number at 20,000. Clement of Alexandria, Greek

  • As the story is told in the Babylonian Epic of the Creation,Tiamat and her husband, Aspu (the primeval father, apersonification of the ocean, the Deep, the powers of the fresh waters), were in existence along with their son,Mummu, before the heavens and earth were created. Aftera succession of generations of gods came forth fromAspu and Tiamat, Aspu, angered by these turbulent andboisterous beings who were disturbing his former peace, resolved to be rid of the new gods. One of these, Ea,learned of this and destroyed Aspu before he could implement his plans. The vengeful Tiamat thus becamethe formidable enemy of the new gods, until she and the forces of chaos (including enormous dragons and serpents which she created as her allies) were at last over-come by Marduk, the great god of Babylon, who thenfashioned the heavens and the earth and organized theuniverse. In another variation of the creation legend, Tiamat represents the subterranean waters of chaos, theelementary principle from which the earth arose in theform of a mountain.

Zecharia Sitchin interprets the creation myth as atale of the creation of our solar system: In the beginningbefore the formation of the other planets, there was onlyAspu (the Sun), Mummu (Mercury), and Tiamat. Tiamat(the missing planet) was later split in half when it col-lided with the satellites of Marduk, a large planet drawninto this solar system by the gravitational pull of Neptune.Tiamats upper half, along with her chief satellite, be -came Earth and her moon; her lower half, shattered byMarduk during its second orbit, became the asteroid beltbetween Mars and Jupiter. Sitchin suggests that in thisseries of events Marduk transferred the seed of life toEarth, giving her the biological and complex early formsof life for whose early appearance there is no other explanation. He says that at the time the human specieson Earth was just beginning to stir, Marduk had alreadyevolved into a planet with high levels of civilization andtechnology. According to Sitchin, Marduk is caught ina large elliptical orbit around the Sun and returns to the

He calls Marduk the Twelfth Planet afterthe ancient Sumerians scheme of this solar system, whichdepicts 12 celestial bodiesthe Sun, the moon, and 10planets.
