“The program helped me realize what it really does take to be a leader and I got to connect with peers throughout the whole state.”

Your call to action or tagline here!

The Trent Lott Leadership Institute aims to inspire honest, compassionate, and responsive leaders who will focus on responsibility and stewardship. Our overall goal is that after completing the program, you will put your new skills to work for the betterment of your schools and communities.

Institute freshmen participate in current-event discussions and decision-making activities led by college administrators, community members, and undergraduate leaders. A service project adds a hands-on dimension to your leadership experience. During the program, the group also visits Jackson, Mississippi, to tour C-Spire, the Civil Rights Museum, the Museum of Mississippi History, and other significant sites.

As a participant, you are given a residential college experience on the Ole Miss campus, earn high school credit, and study public policy and leadership while forming bonds with peers from across the state.

ACADEMICS

Lott Leadership Institute freshmen enroll in Problems in American Democracy with the possibility of earning ½ high school Carnegie credit from the University of Mississippi.

HOUSING AND ACTIVITIES

If accepted to the program you will be housed with other students who are attending summer programs in a residence hall designated specifically for you. Program staff as well as counselors will provide 24-hour support throughout the session.

“Out of all the things we did, I think what impacted me most was the trip to C-Spire. I take a robotics class in school which I absolutely love, and just to see what they could really do and what the minds of mankind can achieve was astounding to me.”
