A LOCAL RESTAURANT TOTALLY

WORTH THE BUZZ IS El Camino. They’ve got great cocktails and a beautiful outdoor bar with torches and flames providing lighting. Cool Dìa de los Muertos vibes. elfreakingcamino.com

I’M TAKING MY DATE TO Seviche (sevicherestaurant.com) if I’m looking for a nice, classy date spot. Chef Anthony Lamas is incredible. If I’m keeping it casual, I’ll grab sushi at Wild Ginger (wildgingerky.com).

MY ROAD TRIP PLAYLIST INCLUDES J. Roddy Walston & The Business, Palma Violets, Dave Rawlings Machine, Otis Redding, The Band, and Hall & Oates.

I GET MY VINTAGE FIX AT The Nitty Gritty (nittygrittyvintage.com) for clothes and costumes. For my vinyl records, Guestroom Records (guestroom-records.com) and

Better Days Records

(betterdaysrecords.net). For

random stuff, The Crazy

Daisy Antique Mall

(crazydaisyantiquemall.com).

I’M DRINKING at Garage Bar

in NuLu. The Basil Gimlet

with gin is their most

popular drink. The best

part, however, is the

outdoor Ping-Pong table

made from old auto parts.

I ALREADY HAVE TICKETS TO The

Forecastle Festival. It occurs

downtown along the river,

and the whole city is

buzzing about it that week.

I SCOUR THE FARM STANDS AT the

farmers’ market on

Bardstown Road (bards

townroadfarmersmarket.com)

Saturday mornings. The

Flea Off Market is also a

way-cool event that has just

about anything you could

want as well. I highly

suggest the build-your-own

Bloody Mary while browsing

booths.

I ESCAPE SUMMER RAINSTORMS AT

Better Days Records. The

dollar bin can be pretty

good. betterdaysrecords.net

I KNOW IT’S SUMMER IN THE CITY

WHEN Waterfront Wednesdays

start. The great local radio

station WFPK puts on huge,

free outdoor concerts at

Waterfront Park with really

great touring acts. louisville
