When returned to us, all the furniture is subjected to a full maintenance check-up. This will ensure that the products live up to our, but especially your quality standards every time!

Adexpo can be found at many exhibitions and events across Europe. Our main location is in Roosendaal, and we have opened our second location in Germany (Neuss) in 2012. Sergio Bicego

Sergio Bicego (1953) left formal education and began exploring, almost by chance, the field of padded furniture. Fascinated by the world surrounding him, he eagerly devoted himself to research-ing building forms and techniques which have borne fruit for the companies in which he worked. In 1991 he opened his studio as an independent designer, where he came across Saba Italia in 1993. New challenges and new incentives led to the creation of the ‘nomad sofa’: Taos, Ananta, Limes, Nesting, Pixel. These creations reflect the new desires that encourage us to live in a less formal way, equipped with systems that can make changes with simple gestures, by playing with shapes.

Designer

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886 - 1969) is widely acknowledged as one of the 20th century’s greatest architects. In 1930, he be-came the director of Bauhaus, the renowned German school of experimental art and design. The school closed during the Nazi re-gime. After the war, Mies insisted on a back- to-basics approach to education. Mies’ asser-tation that ‘less is more’ helped define modern industrial design and architecture.

Born in Oviedo (Spain), internationally acclaimed designer Patricia Urquiola currently lives and works in Milan. After studing architecture and de-sign, she assisted Achille Castiglioni and Eugen-io Bettinelli at Politecnico di Milano and ENSCI in Paris. As head of product deve-lopment at De Padova, Urquiola designed her first commercial

furniture pieces in collaboration with Vico Mag-istretti. After working in an associated studio with M. de Renzio and E. Ramerino, she was man-ager of the Lissoni Associati design group, also creating independent designs. In 2001 Patricia Urquiola opened her own studio in Milan. She has won numerous design awards and speaks at international conferences and universities. Her work includes designs for De Padova, Moroso,

Agape, B&B Italia, Alessi, Driade, Foscarini, Kar-tell, Flos and Molteni, to name a view. Known for her boundary-crossing creativity that incorporates her Mediterranean upbringing, innovative design and unique material selections, her 3D-texture signature is unmistakable. Having curiosity as her main motivator, she finds inspiration in the world around her. ‘Bloomy’ symbolises the stages in the life of a flower; from bud to full bloom.

Arne Jacobsen

The creator of such 20th Century icons, as the ‘Egg’ chair, the ‘Swan’ chair, the ‘Ant’ and ‘Seven series’ and the ‘Cylinda’ line for Stelton, Arne Jacobsen is considered to be one of the most important Scandinavian architects and designers, combining mo- dernist ideals with Nordic naturalism. Before even graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture in 1927, Arne Jacobsen had already received awards and recogni-tion for his work. In 1930 he opened his own design office. Jacob-sen’s most important piece of work is perhaps the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. He designed every element of the building from its structure down to the ceramic ashtrays and the stainless steel cutlery, later chosen by Kubrick for the film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. Here, the ‘Swan’ and ‘Egg’ chairs were first introduced. As a tribute to Arne Jacobsen, room 606 remains in-tact to this day. In 1964, the design of St. Catherine’s College at Oxford University earned him international fame. Throughout his career Jacobsen maintained a high level of productivity, in both furniture design and in architecture.

Model ‘3107’, often merely called ‘The Number Seven Chair’ has become the most important success in Danish furniture history.

Andreas Brandolini

Graduating as an architect from Technical University in Berlin, Andreas Brandolini still works as architect, interior designer, exhibition designer, product designer and profes-sor of design. He has participated in numerous group and individual exhibitions in Germany and abroad. As one of the leading figures of ‘New German Design’, the avant-gardist first rose to fame with his contribution to ‘Documenta 8’, the first German art show to focus on design.

His intellectual constructs, questioning the concept of function-ality, were hardly suitable for series production, so Brandolini founded a project called ‘Utilism Collective’ in the 1980s. Joining him were Axel Kufus and Jasper Morrison.

Archirivolto

For Archirivolto, industrial design and architecture is synonymous with beauty, harmony and freedom. It cannot be bound by strict rules, nor can it be the privi-lege of an elite. While studying architecture in Florence, Italy, Marco Pocci, Clau-dio Dondoli and some friends put together an experimental theater group. When they decided to focus their joint efforts on design, their interest in theater strongly influenced the setup of their new design studio, and Archirivolto was born.

With property developer John Hitchcox, he co-founded ‘Yoo’, a company that uses design, brand-ing and marketing to develop res-idential, hotel and leisure proper-ties worldwide. Philippe Starck is also a teacher and consultant at various organisations and insti-tutes. Renowned for his creative and innovative approach to de-sign, he never fails to delight and surprise.

Annet Neugebauer

Dutch designer Annet Neugebauer studied at the Academy of Arts in Arnhem, where she designed the ‘Tumbly’ for her graduation project. The inspiration for ‘Tumbly’ came from the extravagant fashion industry, where fantasy and senses are stimulated. Annet Neugebauer founded studio ‘De Vorm’, in collaboration with the Ter Hoeven Group and in 2005 De Vorm introduced its first product: ‘Tumbly’, an egg-shaped ergonomic seat. Due to the counterweight at the bottom of the seat, ‘Tumbly’ always comes to a standstill with the seat at the top. The weight also gives the seat stability. Sitting with a straight back prevents back and neck pains. The original design has attracted a lot of attention and already features in many high-profile projects, offices, schools and residences, from Europe to Japan and the Middle East. De Vorm has since designed several surprising items, suitable for both private and business use.

Charlotte Høncke

Charlotte Høncke (1974) gra- duated as an Industrial Design-er from the Danish School of Architecture in 2002. She soon discovered her passion for furni-ture design, which led to found-ing her own studio in Aarhus in 2010.

“I always have a clear basic idea that is the starting point for the design. Usually, the form is very pure and simple, while I take a playful approach to details with elements such as stitching, but-tons, etc. I also like to exagger-ate or understate forms, such as the Liva armchair’s large wings, or the large buttons on the Vita sofa. There must be some details that make the furniture stand out. My furniture can be unpreten-tiously cosy and humorous.”

Stefano Giovannoni Designer

Italian industrial designer, interior decorator and architect Stefano Giovannoni stud-ied architecture at the University of Florence and later taught there, as well as at the Domus Academy in Milan, the Università del Progetto in Reggio Emilia and the Archi-tecture University in Genoa. He is a founder member of the Bolidist movement and also founded the King-Kong studio with Guido Venturini, creating the extremely successful ‘Girotondo’ line for Alessi, with its universal ‘stick-man’ motif. The elementary, playful cartoon language of the designs made its mark on design in the early 90s. Giovannoni went on to create numerous original designs for Alessi, including the ‘Lilliput’ salt and

peppershakers, the ‘Mary Biscuit’ cookie jar, the ‘Cico’ egg cup and the ‘Mami’ line. Recent cooperation between Alessi and the National Palace Museum in Tai-wan resulted in a brilliant mix between east and west in Giovannoni’s ‘OrienTales’ series. Stefano Giovannoni has also worked with Magis, Flos, Fiat, Seiko, Siemens, Henkel, Lavazza, Helit, and many others. His bestsellers include the Bombo range for Magis. Awarded with several international design prizes, his works are part of the permanent archives of the Centre George Pompidou in Paris and of the MoMA collection in New York.
