Debo quedarme en casa si:
February is here! This month we will continue with more fun learning experiences to make sure
your child is getting closer to our end of the year goals. February is the month of love and friendship
students will continue to learn about important values like empathy, friendship, kindness, caring,
respect and more, and all of this through an academic lens. We will also be celebrating love of read-
ing week from February 10 to February 14, 2019. The love of reading week will be full of Valentine’s
day themed activities that will help our scholars become better readers and help them improve in
every subject to protect our instructional time. On February 14, 2020, no Valentine’s Day grams will
be allowed to be passed out in the classrooms or around the school campus. Each level will have
several special activities linked to learning to celebrate this day. In Kindergarten, we will be assign-
ing each student a “secret friend” whom they will have to make a Valentine’s Day card for and write
a nice message to. On February 14th, each child will exchange their card with their “secret friend”.
More information about the secret friend activity will be sent in their homework folders with the
name of their “secret friend”, please help your child keep it a secret. Parent volunteers are sched-
uled to come read to our class to encourage our kindergarten scholars to love reading! Once again,
thank you for all of your support and please continue to help your child develop his or her abilities
to their maximum potential.
¡Febrero ha llegado! Este mes continuaremos con las experiencias de aprendizaje divertidas para
asegurarnos de que su hijo(a) se esté acercando a las metas de fin de año. Febrero es el mes del
amor y la amistad y los alumnos seguirán aprendiendo valores importantes como la empatía,
amistad, amabilidad, respeto y más desde un punto de vista humano y académico. Asimismo, es-
taremos celebrando la semana del amor a la lectura del 10 al 14 de febrero, 2020. La semana del
amor a la lectura estará llena de actividades con el tema de San Valentín que fomentarán el apren-
dizaje y desarrollo de sus hijos. El día de San Valentín (14 de febrero) no se permitirá las cartitas de
San Valentín dentro del salón de clases ni repartirlas en la escuela. Cada nivel tendrá actividades
especiales que van de la mano con lo académico para celebrar el día de San Valentín. En kínder, a
cada estudiante se le asignará un “amigo secreto” y tendrán que hacerle una carta decorada y escri-
tas por ellos mismos con un mensaje lindo para su “amigo secreto”. El día 14 de febrero las cartas
serán intercambiadas dentro del salón de clases y se compartirán con el resto del grupo. Más infor-
mación sobre la actividad del “amigo secreto” se enviará en el folder de tareas próximamente. Para
celebrar la semana del amor a la lectura tendremos algunos padres voluntarios que nos leerán un
cuento a todo el grupo para seguir desarrollando amor a la lectura desde una edad temprana. Una
vez más, muchas gracias por todo su apoyo y por favor continúe ayudando a su hijo(a) a desarrol-
larse a su máximo potencial.

In the month of February we celebrate Love of Reading. We will be focused on pro-
moting the habit of reading in our scholars, since reading is the door to new worlds
full of adventure and knowledge. Scholars will also have the opportunity to write a let-
ter to a family member or a friend. For this activity we ask you to send an envelope
and a stamp because they will be taken to the post office with the purpose of learning
the structure of a friendly letter. We look forward to your support. Valentine´s day
cards will not be passed out but scholars will have the opportunity to write a friendly
letter which will be exchanged with the level.
We will continue practicing the virtues of previous months´ and we will introduce new
ones. We begin the month of February with the virtue: Integrity. Please help your
scholar reinforce our previous months´ virtues at home and at every opportunity they
have. Our goal is to develop great minds and kind hearts that care about their com-
munity.
En febrero celebramos el amor a la lectura. Estaremos enfocados en continuar
promoviendo la lectura en nuestros estudiantes, ya que es la puerta a un mundo de
aventuras y conocimientos. En Mexicayotl no intercambiamos tarjetas de San
Valentín pero los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de escribir notas de aprecio que
intercambiaran en el nivel. También los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de
escribir una carta, ya sea a un familiar o a un amigo/a. Esta actividad es con el
propósito de aprender la estructura de una carta amistosa. Para esto ocupamos que
envíen un sobre y una estampilla ya que se llevaran a la oficina de correo. Espera-
mos contar con su apoyo.
Durante este mes seguiremos practicando las virtudes de los meses anteriores e in-
troduciremos nuevas. Iniciamos este mes de febrero con la virtud: integridad. Favor
de aprovechar cualquier oportunidad para reforzar estas virtudes en casa. Nuestra
meta es crear niños con mentes sanas y de buen corazón que se preocupen por su
comunidad.

February is here, and with it, new opportunities to continue with learning objectives that will help us meet our academic goals. We continue preparing our scholars for the upcoming AZMerit Test. Dur-ing this month, our scholars will have their Math and ELA Galileo tests. Please continue to support your scholars by making sure they are at school on time and present on a daily basis. We continue with the activity of the Responsibility Dollars. Students will receive a “Responsibility Dollar” when they show parents signature on the agenda, parents must make sure their scholar completes their homework, they also earn one when they show self discipline, and when they pass an AR level; as a way to motivate our scholars to continue working tirelessly and reach their academic goals and also help them acquire good habits that will help them do so. We would like to thank you for sup-porting the 4th grade environmental fundraising activity called “Wires”. Third grade class repre-sentatives promote dry crayons recycling and they collect them frequently. We are very proud of their initiatives.From February 10th-14th, we will have our Love of Reading Week. We remind you that Valentine cards/gifts are not allowed at school, nevertheless we encourage hand made and cost free kind gestures. We urge you to make sure our students continue with their daily reading, in both English and Spanish. During that week, we will be hosting parents who will read to Level II students. The Math 3 class motivates the scholars to improve their time table knowledge through the Banana Split activity that will take place on 2/28. Let’s continue working together as a commu-nity in order to achieve success!

Febrero llegó y con él, nuevas oportunidades para continuar con los objetivos del aprendizaje que nos ayudarán a alcanzar nuestras metas académicas. Continuaremos preparando a nuestros estu-diantes para el examen AZMerit. Durante este mes, nuestros estudiantes realizarán los exámenes Galileo de matemáticas e inglés. Continúe apoyando a los alumnos, asegurándose de que asistan a la escuela diariamente a tiempo. Seguimos con la actividad de los “Responsibility Dollars” cuando demuestran una agenda completa y firmada al asegurar que las tareas están com-pletas, cuando muestran autodisciplina y cuando pasan nivel AR; para motivar a los alumnos a que continúen trabajando arduamente para alcanzar sus logros académicos y así también adquieran buenos hábitos que los ayuden a alcanzar esas metas. Les agradecemos su apoyo en la actividad ambientalista llamada “Wires” de cuarto grado que consiste en reunir fondos económi-cos para esa fundación. Los representantes de clase de tercero promueven el reciclaje de marca-dores secos y los colectan frecuentemente en la escuela. Nos sentimos muy orgullosos por estas iniciativas.En la semana del 10 al 14 de febrero, tendremos la actividad “Semana del amor por la lectura”. Requerimos de su apoyo para que los estudiantes continúen con su lectura diaria de in-glés y español. Durante esa semana, recibiremos a padres para que les lean a los alumnos del nivel II. Les recordamos que tarjetas/regalos de San Valentín no son permitidos en la escuela, sin embargo si alentamos los detalles hechos a mano y sin costo económico. Third quarter has just begun and this is a new opportunity to
achieve all of our benchmark goals. Congratulations on supporting
your children on their AR reading. Please keep working with your
children at home so they can reach their AR Reading goals this
quarter. Once again, thank you for your tiendita’s donations. The
week of February 10th to the 14th our level will be doing some
classroom activities to celebrate Love of Reading. Students will also
be writing a letter to a friend on February 14th as part of their
writing class. Therefore, there will be no need for students to bring
Valentine cards to school. Thank you for all your support and let’s
continue working together as a team to accomplish the expected
goals.
El tercer cuarto ha iniciado y con él una nueva oportunidad para al-
canzar nuestras metas. Agradecemos su apoyo en casa con la lectu-

Level IV: 7th
& 8th
Level IV students will continue working on some exciting projects this se-mester. Scholars are in the process of developing brochures on climate change and editing videos to spread awareness about this urgent con-cern. 7th and 8th graders will have the opportunity to begin drafting the Walking Tour of Downtown Nogales that will take place in April 2020 as part of Nogales Barrio Stories. The walking tour will be highlighting the his-tory of buildings in Nogales, Arizona, and how they came to be. Marc Pinate and Cesar Lopez will be coming into Level IV to meet stu-dents and review the progress of this project. It is this time where scholars will begin to feel the pressure that arises from having to complete daily as-signments and long term projects. It is important to encourage and support your Level IV student as they develop and practice the skills necessary to complete these projects. These skills will become useful to build our stu-dents as the future leaders of today.
Los estudiantes de Nivel IV continuarán trabajando en algunos proyectos emocionantes este semestre. Los alumnos están en el proceso de desar-rollar folletos sobre el cambio climático y editar videos para dar a conocer esta urgente problemática. Los alumnos de 7mo. y 8vo. grado tendrán la oportunidad de comenzar a redactar el Recorrido a pie por el centro de Nogales que se llevará a cabo en abril de 2020 como parte de Nogales Barrio Stories. El recorrido a pie destacará la historia de los edificios en Nogales, Arizona, y cómo llegaron a ser. Marc Pinate y Cesar López en-traran trabajando con Nivel IV para conocer a los estudiantes y revisar el progreso de este proyecto. Es ahorita cuando los alumnos comenzarán a sentir la presión que surge de tener que completar tareas diarias y proy-ectos a largo plazo. Es importante alentar y apoyar a su estudiante de Nivel IV a medida que desarrollan y practican las habilidades necesarias para completar estos proyectos. Estas habilidades serán útiles para for-mar a nuestros estudiantes como futuros líderes de hoy.

WHAT IS A TAX CREDIT?
A tax credit is a dollar for dollar reduction in the actual tax owed to the State of Arizona. It reduces your tax liabil-
ity by the amount you donate, up to $400 for married couples and $200 for single or head of household. The tax
credit can also be taken as a donation on your federal tax return.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
There are plenty! You, the taxpayer, get a Tax Credit for supporting our school. The tax credit donation lets you
choose how your tax dollar will be spent. We all benefit because extra-curricular activities help children develop
qualities such as leadership, personal growth and cooperation. They also provide safe, supervised activities for stu-
dents. Everyone wins.
WHAT ARE EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTITIVIES?
Extra-curricular activities are defined as school sponsored activities that require enrolled students to pay a fee in
order to participate. Such activities include (but are not limited to): field trips, fine arts, music, and athletics, just
to name a few.

favor pasen semanalmente a revisar nuestra canasta de objetos
perdidos. Tenemos muchas chaquetas, sueters y otros artículos
que no han venido a reclamar. Cada
último viernes del mes estaremos regalando todo lo que haya en
la canasta a algún albergue.
