What is Composting?
• Composting is like recycling organic matter• The compost is sent to an off site facility where it is allowed to decompose into
fertilizer
• It will help bring UT closer to its Zero Waste goal
• Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills

What you shouldn’t do
• Force people to compost or confuse them as to what can be composted
• We are currently working to pressure vendors to use more compostable and recyclable materials
• Currently not all types of materials are compostable
• i.e. Everything at Wendy’s can be composted, but Starbucks, as well as most other stores, cups can’t. All cups are trashed
