Office and Quality Control Site OARS Office: 23 Bradford Street 2

nd Floor Rear, West Concord. From Rte 2, take Rte 62 west

towards West Concord. At the fork (facing the 99 Restaurant), bear right onto Commonwealth Ave.

Cross the railroad tracks and take a left onto Bradford Street. Turn in to the parking lot in front of

building #23 and park near the front. Our office door is near the front of the building. Second floor, end

of the hall on the left.

ABT-033 Route 62, West Concord: METER SAMPLING ONLY

From the OARS office, go back out Bradford Street and turn right (east) on Commonwealth Ave. The

site is on the right, before you cross the river, about 1.1 mi. from the office. Pass the Dunkin Donuts and

park in the lot for the dry cleaners and Pet Source. In-situ sampling is done from the bridge.


SUD-005 ROUTE 62, CONCORD

From ABT-033: continue east 1.2 miles on Rte 62 towards Concord center. Just after you go under the

stone bridge, pull into the parking lot for South Bridge Boat House. (As of spring 2015: the railroad is

still under construction; you can pull over on the Boat House side of the road.) Take samples from their

dock. (We have their permission; introduce yourself if there is anyone there and confirm permission.)


CND-161 CONCORD RIVER BRIDGE AT LOWELL ROAD, CONCORD

From Site SUD-005, continue along Rte 62 towards Concord center. At the rotary take the fourth spur onto

Lowell Road. At the Lowell Road bridge, park in the boat launching area. For bottle sampling, wade in from

the launch area, going far enough to get into the main current. The bottom is mucky. In-situ sampling can be

done from the bridge.

NSH-047 NASHOBA BROOK AT WHEELER LANE, ACTON

From CND-161, continue along Lowell Road. Take a left on Barrett’s Mill Road. At the Rte 2 rotary take the

first spur for Rte 119. Take a right at Rte 27 and go north 1.1 miles. Take a right onto Wheeler Lane and

part in the lot at the end of the lane. Go down the right branch of the foot path and across the footbridge.

Sample on the upstream side of the bridge. The staff gage is on the upstream/right side of the bridge.

CND-009 CONCORD RIVER AT ROGERS ST., LOWELL

From NSH-047, go back to Rte 27 and take a right to continue north. Take a left onto Rte 225 (Carlisle

Road) and in 1.3 miles bear right to stay on Carlisle Road (turning into Boston Road). Get onto Rte 495

North and go 5.4 miles and take Exit 35 onto the Lowell Connector. Take a left onto Gorham Street, right

onto Walnut, left onto Central, right onto Abbott, right onto Lawrence and finally a left onto Merrill Street, a

one-way that bends back towards Rogers Street. Park near the intersection with Rogers Street and go down

to the river through the Jollene Dubner Park. Park near the intersection with Rogers Street and go down to

RETURN TO OARS OFFICE:

From CND-009, turn left onto Roger’s Street, go straight across Lawrence Street onto Abbott Street. At the

end of Abbott, take a left on Central Street. At the end of Central, take a right onto Thorndike Street. Turn

left onto the ramp for the Lowell Connector. Bear right to get onto Rte 495 South. Take Exit 29A onto Rte 2

East. Go east to the rotary, and take the first spur onto Commonwealth Ave. At the junction take a left

(staying on Commonwealth). In 0.1 miles take a right onto Bradford Street.
