Please call the Park Office in advance for conditions and information. Thank you for visiting Lower Huron, Willow and Oakwoods Metroparks. To make your visit safe and enjoyable, please follow these rules: Do not leave any equipment unattended. Please park in the parking lots for winter activities. Please do not park at the Park Office for sledding or skiing activities. Report any injuries to the Park Police or the Park Office. Snowmobiles and snowboards are prohibited. HIKE-BIKE TRAILS The paved hike-bike trails are open year-round. Snow is removed from the trails as quickly as possible. Some areas of the trails are not maintained in the winter. Please refer to the map. Please be cautious when using the trails because they can be slippery. Helmet use is recommended for bikers, inline skaters and others who use wheeled apparatus on the trails. LOWER HURON ICE SKATING Ice skating is available in the Fox Woods Area from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., and is lighted at night. Heated restrooms are located at Fox Woods and Tulip Tree Picnic Areas. A first aid station is located at the Park Office. WILLOW CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING The ski trails are open daily. The Willow trailhead is located at Washago Pond. The trail is open conditions permitting. Heated restrooms are located at the Washago Pond and Chestnut picnic areas. There are no downhill facilities. Please use marked ski trails only. Skiing is prohibited on sledding hills. SLEDDING HILLS Sledding hills are located near Washago Pond and the Chestnut Picnic Area. Sledding at the Chestnut Picnic Area is only available during the daytime, and the Washago Pond sledding area is lighted at night until 9 p.m. Please walk up the hills in designated areas only, and be cautious of others using the hills. Snowboards are prohibited. OAKWOODS CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING A 2.7-mile, marked trail begins at the Nature Center. First aid and restrooms are also located at the Nature Center. There are no downhill facilities. NATURE CENTER & NATURE TRAILS The Nature Center and nature trails are open year-round. See the Nature Center brochure for details. Please be cautious when using snow covered trails because they can be slippery.
