How did we get here?
Monday 3/16/20, NJ Governor closes all schools for remote learning starting 3/17/20 (2 week intervals, and then for the rest of the 2019-20 school year)

Our goal during the planning of our reopening:

There were 31 committee members on the District Level Pandemic Response Team.

Phase 1Phase 1 has to be our safest phase to begin school.(Hybrid #1- 50% of students in school daily)
Families can choose to opt out for 100% remote/virtual learning from home by Monday 8/17/20.
However, if you choose to return to in-person instruction, you must wait until the start of the next marking period.

Phase 1Students will be on a hybrid schedule assigned to a single teacher consisting of an estimated 15 students.
The class will be divided into Group A and Group B. Group A will come to school on Monday & Tuesday. Wednesday is a remote learning day for the entire district.
Group B will come to school on Thursday & Friday. In Phase 1, every day will be an early dismissal.

Transitioning of Phases 1. Weekly Data will be analyzed which consists of our students, staff,
and families that are confirmed positive tested. 2. We will review on a weekly basis our State, County, and Township
Covid-19 data. 3. We will have updates from our CMC Dept of Health, Office of
Emergency Management, as well as our County Educational officials.
4. We will also review any District logistical issues that may arise as well.
5. The District Pandemic Response Team will be involved in all possible transitional conversations.

Phase 2Phase 2 is the same as Phase 1, except for full day regular dismissal times.(Hybrid #1- 50% of students in school daily)

Group A and B students will come to school the same days, and do remote learning the same days.

Phase 3The teacher has their full class of 15 students in front of them 2 days a week.
Wednesday the district is home for remote learning, and the other 2 days is virtual learning.
The grade level classroom teachers will be divided in half, and will either be on the Monday-Tuesday in school instruction schedule, or Thursday-Friday in school instruction schedule.

Screening Procedures
Parents and Guardians: Please keep your child at home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue or muscle aches, headaches, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting and diarrhea.

Screening Procedures
All students will be screened for a fever before entering the school.A staff member at each entrance will have an infrared thermometer. If a child has a temperature equal to or over 100.4℉, they will need to be rechecked in an isolation room, by the nurse.

Preschool Programs (Memorial/Mitnick)
⊳ Preschool in-person classes will follow the state’s guideline to provide 113 square foot radius for each student. Students will be required to wear a cloth mask except when eating or drinking (per state guidelines). “Mask Break” areas will be available.
⊳ Preschool will follow the same reopening phases as grades K-6.⊳ In-person Option for preschool:
▸ Students will participate in a 4 hour High Scope program. Students will be allowed to play/work together in small groups of 2-3.
▸ Students will eat breakfast and lunch in the classroom.▸ Additional outside time will be provided whenever possible.
⊳ 100% Remote/Virtual Option for preschool:▸ 1 hour of screen time limit▸ Virtual Teaching: Morning Meeting, Read Aloud, Small Groups▸ The district will provide families with materials and lessons at home to be completed offline. 17

Special Education Services
Communication is critical to ensure the needs of our Students with Disabilities are met during the Covid-19 crisis. To get through this , we will have to be creative and innovative. We’ll need to work together and help each other. Our department is promoting the following:

Physical Education/Recess
Physical Education- All students will have Physical Education throughout the school year. Classes will rotate between In-person and Remote/Virtual lessons. All students will have a 30 minute Recess time built into their daily schedule.
Recess- Students will play outside in a designated area with their own class.
Unfortunately, our large playground equipment will be off limits. We cannot disinfect each piece of equipment after each class. Teachers will keep the students engaged through organized games.

Field Trips/Extracurricular Activities
Unfortunately, there will be no field trips scheduled during this school year.
Also, all in-person extra curricular activities are suspended at this time during this school year.

Food Services (Phases 1-3)
Breakfast Breakfast will be provided to every student as usual.

provided during the day for each student.
LunchA grab and go lunch is available for students.

REMINDER: complete and return the Meal Benefit Applications.
Food Services
Meals will be provided for families that qualify for meal benefits on remote/virtual days. Along with qualifying families that choose to opt out.

Transportation
Cloth masks are mandatory. Buses will only have about 22 students. Buses are disinfected between runs.

Chromebooks were purchased for all students. However, we are patiently waiting for our backordered devices. These were purchased through the Federal CARES ACT.

We offer before and after care services on the day your child has in-person instruction.
We do not have the space for all-day services, or before and after care on the days your child is scheduled for remote learning.
