    LS 8042THE "NON-GREASE" SCREW PASTE

High Performance and ReliabilitySolid film lubricants (or Anti-Friction-Coatings;‚AFC’s) are functional, high performance layersystems, usually based on organic binder systems.Specific formulations allow the adaptation to theparticular application.

Typically AFC’s are especially suitable forlubrication of slow sliding movements withmedium to high surface pressures. In addition, other functions are also integrated, such as, forexample, corrosion protection or decorativeproperties.AFC’s can be used in various stages of productionor use:• Mounting and assembly aid• Optimisation of the running-in process• Complementary (‚hybrid’) lubrication (with

grease or oil)• Lifetime lubricationDue to the wide range of possible applicationsand good performance, solid film lubricants arean indispensable part of any lubricant portfolio.

Specialised products are necessary for screwconnections operating in the high-temperaturearea - apart from questions concerning thecoefficient of friction during assembly, it isparticularly important that the connection can bereleased again after a prolonged period ofoperation and no negative influences of thelubricant on the metallurgy of the screw materialoccur.MicroGLEIT LS 8042 is a thermosettinglubricating lacquer with a high temperatureresistant solid lubricant combination in anorganic binder.• The high-quality binder system ensures good

film formation and adhesion of the embeddedsolid lubricants on the surface.

    • The lubricants are selected and adjusted toeach other ensuring temperature resistance upto 1200 ° C.

    • The ingredients of LS 8042 are metallurgically-compatible at high temperatures and are alsowithout toxicity.

    • The track-free , dry solid film lubricantsimplifies parts handling and storage.

Metallurgically-Compatible and Environmentally FriendlyFeatures of LS 8042

    • Green-grey solid film lubricant• Wide temperature range up to +1200 °C• Very good release properties even after long

service times at high temperatures -Connections are detachable!

    • 8042 protects the surface from oxidation athigh temperatures (Scale)

    • High adhesion level• Oil and solvent resistant• Application with commonly used techniques• The adjustment of the coefficient of friction

    (CoF) (µ = 0,09 to 0,14) is done by a top-coating e.g. microGLEIT DF 921 or DF 905(1:1 to 1:2) .The standards VDA 235-203 and VW TL 52501are met.

    Application of LS 8042

    • LS 8042 is applicable with all commonapplication techniques - the selection of thebest method is done on base of the processenvironment

    • The layer must be cured• Special working instructions are available -

    Areas of Application

    • Generally suited for screws, nuts, washers andbolts used in high temperature applicationssecuring the detachability after operationloads. Examples:- For applications used in automotive

industries, e.g. connections/threads forexhaust components, turbo-charges, lambdasensors, spark plugs – generally for workingtemperatures above 500 °C

    - Turbine bolts, flange connections in powerplants

    - Flange connections or thread joints e.g. inchemical plants, refineries or heatingsystemsSolid film lubricants are especially beneficialin case of offline application of the lubricantand/or a (semi-)automated assembly isplanned - this means dry films are generallysuitable for serial production.

DRY LUBRICATION AND PROTECTION UP TO 1200 °CDRY FILM = PERFECT FOR AUTOMATION
