THANK YOU ALL for coming to the Summer Fair. We hope you all had a good time! A very special thank you goes out to the volunteers, staff and teachers who did a cracking job. A special commendation to Mr. Harris, Mr. Steve and Ms. Corpe who had to face a wet sponge over and over again as children could not stop — a trend has started we think! A top attraction to be repeated. We had a huge number of visitors to the Fair and this year hosted a couple of charities raising awareness of refugees. Our raffle (thanks to Lorraine and Barbara for their sterling work on this, again), raised a huge amount of interest and we’d like to thank all the local traders and individuals who generously donated prizes. This very special community event for children and parents/carers to enjoy also raises funds for the school. Thanks to you all and our community partners, we raised over £5,000 for the school. These funds have been added to the LSA pot and will be used for the following projects. ROOFTOP PROJECT WHAT To turn the roof terraces into multi-use, flexible, safe spaces for the school. Uses will include as outdoor classrooms as well as less structured activities. The terraces are an opportunity to provide for a wide range of learning and social activities that are harder to accommodate elsewhere in the school premises (e.g. engagement with the outdoors, messy activity, etc.). WHEN Thanks to your generous support over the many years we’re very pleased to announce that the planning decision is due before the end of July and work will begin soon after. This includes railings, surfacing, covered areas and water supply. Once those are in we will install seating, storage and classroom specific elements e.g. Science stuff. ORCHARD SEATING AREA WHAT The orchard seating area (orchard next to the chicken coup) is an outdoor seating area that can be used as an outdoor classroom but also for children to use during play times as a quiet area — for example to read a book. WHEN The orchard seating area will be built over the summer holiday. OUTDOOR LEARNING SPACE WHAT Another outdoor learning space that will be used for cooking and gardening classes and will be located in the ‘woodland’ area next to the caretaker’s house. WHEN Second stage of project — after roof space completion. LSA Newsletter #1 Summer Fair 02 July 2016 This year the LSA has also funded the year 6 leavers hoodies and the Leavers Ball as well as new Christmas presents for each class, new PE T-shirts, a new set of guitars, a coach to take pupils to Harrow to participate in the finals of the London School Athletics and we hope to be able to fund smaller projects too.
