Internal AuditLSU’s Internal Auditing program is recognized globally as the leader in internal audit education. Internal Auditing is essentially a risk assurance and consulting function that serves an organization through operation, compliance and financial evaluations. Established in 1985, the LSUCIA is considered to be the premier internal audit program in the world, and has become a model for similar programs in other schools and countries.

What Does it Take?The LSUCIA consists of 3-5 courses with an emphasis on governance, risk, and controls. Students must take a minimum of three courses to be considered as qualifying for the specialization designation. Several departments have differing course requirements for an internal audit specialization. The program begins in January and ends in December. Internal Audit is a multidisciplinary profession, and the LSU Center for Internal Auditing program seeks students from backgrounds as varied as engineering, finance, information systems, management, marketing, accounting, economics, public administration, and non-business areas. Courses offered in the internal auditing specialization include: operational auditing, case studies in internal auditing, and internships in internal auditing. The suggested route for an internal auditing specialization is as follows:

• ACCT 7233 Graduate Internal Auditing (Prereq.: consent of instructor.)• ACCT 7232 Case Studies in Internal Auditing (Prereq.: ACCT 7233.) • ACCT 7234 Operational Auditing (Prereq.: ACCT 7233.) • ACT 7231 Internship in Internal Auditing (Prereq.: Permission of instructor)

Healthcare ManagementHealthcare Management includes the analysis and management of the overall structure of the healthcare industry; focusing on improving effectiveness, efficiency and quality. It also looks at the operations of healthcare providers and the management of resources necessary for a healthcare provider to operate efficiently and productively.

Healthcare Management is a growing and sustainable field based on the national demographics and the preference of U.S. consumers for high quality medical care.

Finance

Finance is the study of how individuals, businesses and organizations acquire and utilize capital (i.e. money). Two basic elements of finance include trade-offs between expected returns and risk and the importance of timing of future cash flows.

The curriculum for the Finance specialization is through the Department of Finance in the E.J. Ourso College of Business.

Financial PlanningFinancial Planning provides students with the knowledge to prepare financial plans for people covering various aspects of personal finance. Examples include: cash flow management, educations planning, retirement planning and investment planning.

In 2011, the E. J. Ourso College of Business was named a CFP® Program Partner by the CFP Board, a global association for financial service professionals that awards the Certified Financial Planner designation. The CFP Board’s mission is to award the designation and to uphold the ethical and competent standards of the financial planning profession. Financial planning is a field in high demand and expected to grow 41% by 2016.

Human Resource ManagementHuman Resource Management is the strategic approach to the overall management of an organization's employees who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the company. Additionally, HRM is the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management and benefits.

Supply Chain ManagementSupply Chain Management is the coordination of resources and activities across multiple organizations to ensure the right products are available at the right time, at the right place and at the right cost. Supply chain managers integrate analytics from supply, production, and distribution activities to improve value production for their own firm and for across other firms.

As firms continue to focus on core competencies and outsource supporting functions, their need for inter-organizational coordination will grow. Companies will increasingly demand managers that understand how to integrate the operations from many supply chain partners across multiple value producing functions within the firm.

This concentration brings together leading edge analytics tools with real world marketing experience to develop business solutions for improved brand performance across a range of industries.

As firms continue to lower costs they will make better use of information, and thus there is a growing need for analytics specialists in marketing.

What Does it Take?

Simply take the following three courses for a MBA Analytics concentration. Recommended combination with other departments include finance or marketing.

Management ConsultingManagement Consulting is the most broad sub-industry in the consulting field. Management Consultants serve as advisors to firms and offer solutions to improve organizational performance based on a detailed analysis of existing organizational strategy and resources in areas such as human capital, technical and financial.
