Lucy Hamlet - The Bio Hamlet is a passionate advocate for economic development and entrepreneurship within the black community. To that end she volunteers as a Loan Review Officer for the Scarborough branch of Access Community Capital Fund, a micro loan program; and provides Social Media training for seniors and 2nd career individuals at the Kennedy/Eglinton Protech Media Center. Lucy enjoys sharing her experiences and expertise and is available for speaking, training & consulting engagements worldwide. In 2009 Lucy formed her second company, Black Chick Group. Black Chick Group explores the intersection of art and technology, providing consulting services, resources and support in the small business development, Social Web, Lifestyle and Entertainment arenas. Recent projects for the company include the livestream digital presentation of The Sixth Form Sisserou Singers chorale production from Dominica to international audiences; Social Media Strategy Design & implementation for Dominica's World Creole Music Festival 2012; Social Media Training seminars in Antigua & Barbuda; production and coordination of the 35th independence anniversary carnival band for The Commonwealth of Dominica Ontario Association in the 2013 edition of Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival, Toronto. As a consultant and freelancer Lucy has worked on a variety of other projects. She has applied her skills in various capacities including as a production assistant/ camera operator for Stars Entertainment's Academy Awards 'Live from the Red Carpet' Special in Los Angeles; stage manager, logistics cordinator & MC for the Canadian National Exhibition's International Pavillion, Massala Mehndi Masti (North America's largest South East Asian cultural festival) and various other festivals around the city of Toronto. Lucy Hamlet is the CEO, Lead Consultant and VP of Business Development at the Black Chick Group; She was born and raised on the nature isle of the Caribbean Dominica and migrated to Canada in 1996. Lucy has worked in the arts & culture industries for over 20 years. Initially as a performer and volunteer then in 2002 formed her first company Ysis Entertainment Inc. Through Ysis she and her team of 7 produced a number of international staged productions. From 2004-2008, Ysis Entertainment brought the pulsating rhythms of South Africa to the stages of Canada and North America with the first tours of the South African hit show UMOJA: The Spirit of Togetherness,. The company also produced the Off-Broadway hit 'Three Mo Tenors', and presented Mezzo Soprano Denyce Greaves as part of its 'Classics in Black' series held at the Toronto Center for the Arts. In addition to producing Lucy has also taken turns as a writer and director and in 2009 she wrote, directed and co-produced Love ‘n Movement a dance theatrical piece about love with Kevin Ormsby. She also directed the community production Domestic Science Dub for Michael St. George, and has worked with the University of Toronto’s Black Student’s Association to write and produce their Black History Month event, VIBE.
